Here I test the effects of moon gel to dampen the vibrations that cause the "Jello" effect to the video.

I also found that balancing the props, and the propeller hubs, eliminated almost all of the jello. Shooting at 60 fps helps, too. I have a comparison video to show the difference, but apparently YouTube doesn't allow video links in posts.

Excellent glad you got it sorted now looks great

Great vid...very practical suggestions. The increase in frame rate was the clincher. Perhaps if you isolate the screws in some way as well as they could be transferring harmonic vibration to the cam. Keep the vids coming. Look fwd to seeing vids after the props have been balanced as well. Cheers Gary (Australia).

The screws will transfer the vibration. The camera/mount must have nothing hard connecting them to the main frame. Look up the XP2 from XPro Heli, and see how they devout the camera mount by gluing the gel between the mount and the frame. It's on the product page (not to be mistaken with the foam pads they sell). You can also buy some of their gel on the parts section, and there's a video showing how to use it. That way the gel can absorb all the jello. Zip ties and screws aren't good to use.

thanks for the info, I shall make my own skids and see if it helps with the jello. thanks for subscribing mate :)

Some people have found that by using two layers of moongel pads sandwiched on top of each other, they get rid of vibrations / jello. Previously, they tried with one layer and it wasn't enough.

Ive never seen a neighborhood like that. WOW so old and cool and densely populated. Where are we?

dji props have lots of flex ok when your learning as you can get away with a crash, but if your after no gelo go with xoar props very stiff and balanced out the packet also try and balance the motors, when using fixing to your quad the screws will still transmit vibrations even if you use gel so you need to use rubber mounts or use a rubber band to mount your gopro to some foam or ear plugs ect so its not a direct mount to the quad

In many forums the prop balancers are blamed for not being balanced themselves, so they are useless. Also the motors are not balanced. Therefore I am having a go on the laser balancing method. It balances motor and prop in one go, and you need little more than a laser pointer.

Get good prop balancer and sand props to more balance - it helps!

Thank you so much!  I fly my HERO3 Black Edition in the waterproof case (too afraid to fly naked) and am gonna try some Moon Gel to see if it fixes me!  Sub and Like added!  Thank you!  Also, feel free to tune into my live Phantom show Wednesday night 8 PM New York City time!

problem is screws are attached to solid parts of the phantom. Also the shaft mounting the GoPro to the phantom is touching solid. maybe velcro, like suggested above, attached to the phantom with gel, then the other 1/2 of velcro attached to the GoPro mount with gel, i.e., velcro glued to the solid parts by an adhesive gel---nothing solid then between the phantom and the GoPro, might do it.
.
Have you done any balancing to the props?

Did you check the props for balancing? Just curious to see how good they are out of the box is all.

I'm sure by now you've balanced the props...but have you also balanced the motors?

Sebastion, I've gotten one of these, and I was curious exactly what you mean by balancing the propellers. Is it something you do in the Driver software? Or do you physically install new balanced props?

I'm not trying to "make movie" quality videos so I don't mind the skids or booms being in shot. I am not after slick "Gimble" like videos either. some people prefer to see how the quad is handling the winds ect.

You captured the harmonic vibration of the skid. Too bad you can't determine the frequency of the vibration this may lead you to the cause of the vibration which is probably an umbalanced motor/prop. I think the moongel improved things for you otherwise the camera mount would have been vibrating as much as the skid. I too am interested in the best solution and I follow your videos. Thanks for posting.
