In this video I show several different configurations of the DJI Phantom and show the video of each configuration to see how it does at removing jello, shake, and jitter.

You're right, balancing the props will help a lot… but before adding moon gel/rubber dampers etc… you want to download a free seismometer app for your SmartPhone, strap it to your quad… - take the props off and balance the motors one at a time (with zip-ties/zap-straps) -  there is plenty of videos on youtube about this

Do this before you even think about balancing the props and it will make at least as much difference as balancing the props. - Also if you've crashed it, you want to make sure your motor shafts are not bent (carbon blades are stronger and more likely to bend the motor shafts in a crash)
