Cheap and easy jello fix for DJI Phantom

So, I'll begin by saying I'm not handy. I'm not a quad pro. Just a dude who likes to fly and is sick of the jello. Shot on a Go Pro 3 silver - 720 60fps. No stabilization. No effects at all. Took the Phantom out to Butler Park in Austin, TX to test my jello fix. I'm pleased...
Be very careful using loctite on those screws. It can eat away at the plastic on the quad.
That blue stuff is called moon gel. They have it at music inst. stores - drummers use it. I used two pieces. You could probably use 3 or 4.
Here's what's on the packages -
Machine Screws CB#36678
M3-.5 x 12MM (you can also use 10MM depending on how many washer you want to use)

Hex Nuts CB#37568
M3-.5
Zinc Plated

Flat Washer CB#89178
3/16"
Neoprene Rubber
All made by Crown Bolt

Great demonstration. I had only put the moongel and it was not working right. Because of you I found out I was missing the washers! Thanks a lot.

I just want to say THANK YOU! I tried all of your suggestions in this video in addition to switching my FPS to 120 and I've gone from complete jello footage to super smooth (aside from my piloting skills-- which will improve with time hopefully:) Thank you--truly a huge money saver!

I thought that I recognized that building! We went there to see the Austin Toros. Great to see there's another Phantom owner in Austin!

Great video mate, thumbs up. Cheers from the IGY Simpson Bay Marina, Sint Maarten in the Caribbean.

It means diameter of 3mm and a thread pitch of .5mm, or two threads cut per mm however you wish to say it.
Metric and fractional bolts, screws, taps, and dies will always list thread diameter first, then thread pitch, and thereafter length.

Good video, I'm saving up for my first quad now.

Very nice mod. Just starting with Multicopters and I'm still deciding on what RTF/ARF to buy. The Phantom is a great little quad it seems. I also like the foldable quads like Bumblebee, Steadidrone etc.

I bought this prop balancer that would easily accommodate the Phantom props:
Top Flite Power Point Prop Balancer TOPQ5700.
By the way, I just moved to Austin about a year ago and still trying to get familiar around here.

Thanks, great tip! I put three MoonGel bits and there is jello not at all. Now problem is smooth flying. Maybe attitude mode would help.

The phantom has been a great little quad for me. Very stable and travels well. Not that familiar with the foldable quads. I also have a XP2 from xproheli that's pretty sweet.

Great video thanks. Would you also recommend changing the propellers from the ones that comes with the phantom to improve the jello effect?

i would next recommend putting larger motors on it, getting a submicro gimbal, recalibrating the macro barometer, and THEN put on some carbon fiber props.

They are 3mm. The .5 denotes a coarse pitch thread (as opposed to .35, fine pitch) and, of course, the length is 12mm.
3mm, .5 pitch, 12mm long
Hope that helps!

the moon jell and the rubber washers help to absorb the vibration I guess. All I can say is that it works.

Great video, I'll be getting moon jell double quick! I'm just curious though, how does it work? I get the vibration dampening qualities of it but, the camera is still screwed onto the phantom!? It's not like the jell is acting like a method of separating the camera and phantom.

The folks at UAV products have been pretty good at answering my questions. What problems are you having? Maybe I can help...

Can you list in the description the items you bought for example, 1' hex nut .5x12 mm pan head screw etc....

it would help a lot.
