In order to hire good assistants make sure they are able to communicate well with others in person and through the phone. Make sure they are loyal, hard working, able to learn, get along well with you and will be honest with you. This is a lot to ask of many individuals, so once you strike gold pay the according price. Also if you want them to be honest with you then you should be open to suggestions and constructive criticism from your assistants. You can't ask for the honesty then get hurt when they tell you that you are screwing up somewhere.

Question: I definitely want to hire an assistant, but I'm concerned about pay. Right now, I can afford $11 per hour for 10 hours a week, mostly remote work. I know that I can eventually sell more to pay my assistant more. But, in the meantime, how do you attract decent help when your starting budget is so low? High schoolers and college kids can be a little flaky.
