I agree about the Whippet being a quiet dog, I've had 3 and my neighbor once told me they didn't even know I had a dog...now that's quiet alright ❤

I had a basenji mix rescue for 13 years. She was a wonderful pet, very rowdy at times but always my Annie Girl. Very protective. I lost her April 15th, 2023 and I still miss her every day. So blessed to have been her human.

As a former basenji owner I call shenanigan's on this one. While they may not give a full throat bark they are NOT that quiet and they are lively as heck. They were bred as a hunting dog and have tons of energy. My basenji could run rings around my Doberman.

We had the sweetest, most polite and handsome little chihuahua, named Stan, whom we got, from the pound. He was the best little dog and so quiet you could lose track of him. He would ask permission to come indoors, waiting patiently until invited in. He would ‘bark’ at deliverymen, going onto the porch to say, “woof, woof” at a conversational level, just announcing the mail. We miss him terribly.

A Boston Terrier is the number 1 barkless dog without doubt, in 7 years I've never heard mine scream or shout, if you want a dog that loves both activity and rest, get a Boston Terrier because they're simply the best 💛👍

Basenjis may be known as a "barkless dog", however, they can be one of the noisiest dogs around! They can howl, yip, yap, and scream, etc. One of the noisiest dog shows I was ever involved in was one where there was a Basenji specialty. All the basenjis were crated together in one area of the coliseum and it was such a noisy area that we all had to try our best to avoid the area.

If you want a quiet dog, make sure to give it plenty of exercise, plenty of interaction and never leave it alone for overly extended periods. It's that simple.

After watching the video and reading the comments- I’m convinced it doesn’t have to do with the breed but rather having good luck. Dogs, like humans, are all different and unique in their own way. I have a poodle right now- love her- but barks a lot, high energy, and although smart and very trainable- she’s quite rebellious.

I have a chihuahua mix (chipotle - chihuahua/poodle/terrier). A rescue dog that hardly ever barks unless something particularly disturbs her - skateboards / someone lurking in the shadows on evening walks . My princess ❤. My apartment neighbors appreciate her and she loves every human and most other dogs .

You didn’t mention the Poodle or poodle mix. I had one and he was the perfect pet, good watch dog, doesn’t shed, loves to play and can be left alone for several hours. He welcomes you home L miss him desperately. LK from Canada ❤😊

My 16 year old tri, female Basenji passed away one year ago on Holy Saturday 2023. She was basically silent. Yodeled 3 times in her life, one of those times was a week before she passed. My favorite being. Extremely smart. She was well behaved, and for my family was easy to train, and wasn't destructive at all. Miss her more each day. If content should be quiet. Love you Sensen!

I had a delightful Papillon from the pound. He barked too much because the neighbor dogs barked. I built him a platform with steps so he could see outside, and he immediately quit barking and tearing at the curtains to see out when the neighbors barked. When he could see no danger, he didn't bark. My suggestion is to help them have a sentry position, they take guard duties serious. As he got old, I made him steps up to the bed and sofa too.
Now I'm old, I'm considering adjusting my front and back steps for ME.

My beautiful late dog (Chocolate Brown Labradoodle) who I unfortunately suddenly lost to leukemia in 2020 was none of these breeds. He was not a barker unless someone actually rang the intercom or you were playing games with him. 2 of my neighbors actually complimented him, telling me that when he is alone in the apartment, they would not even know a dog was living there because he was so quiet and content.

I believe there were 2 reasons for this. Has a young dog he was left alone at times and also had his first week in a kennel when he was 11 months old, when I went on vacation, and also, he was very loved and secure in his own home. All this helped.

My sister has a Bichon Frise, and it barks and whines if you leave the room, to the extent that it can never be left because it stresses itself out so much. This I believe is because she never raised it has I did my own late dog.

Also, I have always found it 'odd' how 'particular' cultures only seem to be attracted/own what I call 'purse/ handbag breeds.

I have a Papillion and I work from home so she is with me 24/7. She is very protective around me and barks at any one or any thing that comes near me. Some days more than others. Poppie was a rescue dog so I don't know her entire history. She is a big difference from my Chocolate Lab but we have formed a close bond.

I have a whippet mix rescue. Took her 6 months to make a sound. Now she's a good guard dog with a very loud bark, worthy of a much larger dog. Every little noise outside, barks when I want to have a nap. Tried training her with a bark collar, but as soon as it comes off, it's back to normal.

I’ve had three whippets and now have an Italian greyhound. Only one of my whippets barked relentlessly (but that is very unusual for a whippet), and my Iggy barks only occasionally if she is left alone……in fact she gives me a real telling off when I return home 😆.

Several years ago I had four different basenjis. My first one almost never made any noise. My second one was flashy like her sire and was fairly quiet and finished her championship easily. The next one was an import from England and was from a new line. She was very quiet and not at all showy. A friend gave me a tricolor and he was quiet but of all things obedient too and could be let out off lead. They were all different.
