From Pugs to Poodles we're counting down the top ten smallest dog breeds! For this list, we aren't looking at the smallest dog on record, but rather the small dog breed overall.

The Havanese is an exceptionally smart, affectionate, easy to train little dog with both a desire to please and a sense of humor. They’re non-allergenic and shed only when brushed. I have had all kinds of dogs from a 125 lb. Great Dane to an 80 pound wolf/ husky/malamute mix ( very slow, patient and gentle) to a wonderful 55 lb blue tick hound, probably the kindest and gentlest dog I ever had, to my present 8 lb Havanese. She has been so incredibly easy to train and anxious to please, I never want any other breed. They do well in virtually any home situation, and take joyful interest in everything. They will bark only to alert owners, but are not yappy nuisance barkers. ❤️🐶

I have got a Pomeranian and is only 1.28 kg 😁 she is so loved and definitely has earned its place in the smallest breeds

i have a little chihuahua <3 She's very attached to my family and friends, but doesn't care much about other dogs. She prefers cats, which we now have one. She's very nice, but alot of chihuahuas are feisty. Maybe because we've had her for most of her life, that's probably why she's so nice towards strangers. She has to have like 4 hours of attention every day, but i love her XD. She was my very first pet and is now about 6-7 years old in my family, which is also her own age in life.

I have a shitzu pekianese & he is so amazing he is 9 and still acts like he is a puppy. . Everyone knows he is my dog as he follows me every where and sleeps between my hubby & me....just love him so much . Terri Mikes

I had a Chihuahua who passed away years ago. Her name was Queenie and she most definitely lived up to her name. A total character. I still talk about her crazy antics.

Well, you forgot the toy fox terrier. They are about 7 to 9 inches tall and weigh around 7 pounds. Short, smooth fur and white/brown and black colors. They have big ears. I have one and she is quite the "diva". She is now going on 19 human years and still limber and active. She is talkative, mostly when she does not like something, and she really has all kinds of sounds to her repertoire. She says her own name: "Nana"! I also have a Russian Toy, and he is of the longhair variety. What a lover boy he is! So cuddly and very sensitive. Cold weather does not bother him at all... bring it on, winter! His name is Haile, as in Prince Haile Selassi, but he prefers to be called "Heidelberg" strangely enough. I discovered that when I called him Heidelberg jokingly one day and he came running to me immediately, as if to say, yeah! I like that! Call me Heidelberg! He also likes "Heidelberger".
Small dogs are awesome! They have as much personality as big dogs and are way more practical when it comes to traveling. At the local hardware store, with my doggies in the cart, everybody wants to pet them and is in awe over them. Could not do that with two German Shepherds, I think, right??? I do like German Shepherds, don't get me wrong.... but only if they were bred responsibly and do not have degenerated hips. That is a sad situation and very wide spread, unfortunately.
Anyhow, little dogs rock!

I have a papillon, She is very smart and she listens like a child. I treat her like one too ! She gets a night time snack and when she doesn't want to listen she goes in time out ❗🐶🐾🌸🐾🐕🐾💞🐾🌺🐾🐶
