Halo: The TV Series - Season 1 Review

Halo Season 1 is now streaming on Paramount+. Review by Jesse Schedeen.

Halo: Season 1 is by no means a perfect adaptation of the beloved source material. The series makes some storytelling mistakes and often stumbles when the action is too focused on recreating the look and style of the games. But considering Hollywood's track record with video game adaptations, it's a small miracle Halo is as good as it is. It succeeds in charting a different, more character-driven course with the mythos. Many of the changes made to the familiar Halo formula help the series better take advantage of the serialized TV format. This is an adaptation willing to take some risks, and those risks tend to pay off.

Dredd proved you don't need to take the helmet off. Why would you disregard the fact that halo 3 was the biggest selling piece of media of all time at the time of 2007 and clearly already managed to captivate a wide enough audience to do that. Like the pure audacity to take a beloved franchise and make your own "timeline" instead so you can rewrite the narrative but considerably worse is beyond me. Its a disservice to long term fans and every one who's been shitting on people who are upset about this will look the fools when this show ends up dieing the death it deserves after season 2

For me this is at max 4 out 10..even mentioning castlevania or arcane isnt justified. This show made me feel like what jake Gyllenhaal felt in nocturnal animals.

Hmm.. What's wrong with Halo TV series?
1. There's bad storytelling (boring)
2. Dull characters (don't care about)
3. Dialogue (written by children)
4. Qwan Ha (everything is wrong)
5. No action whatever. Where are all the fight scenes? Where are the covenant? Shouldn't there be a war going on? Covenant want to annihilate all humans. Let's just see the humans fight the aliens.
6. Silver team. Who are they? Have not seen enough of them. Shouldn't we see them training whenever they're not fighting? But there's a war going on. So shouldn't they be too busy going out on missions trying to defend humanity from the Covenant invasion?
7. They have completed ignored all of the important Halo canon and lore. That's highly disrespectful to the Halo community.
8. Where's all the high tech Sci-Fi stuff? There should be huge leaps in humanities equipment and gadgets. This is like 500 years into the future. As it stands, this is just another cheap boring generic drama.
9. Subliminal messaging (Don't like the race swapping of characters and other radical left woke propaganda nonsense that's sprinkled throughout.) Halo should have nothing to do with modern day politics. We are 500 years into the future. Stick to the story at hand instead of going off script to spread "the message".
10. Master Chief! Don't even get me started on what's wrong with Master Cheeks or I'll be here all day... 😤
