Fimi X8 Mini v2 vs Potensic Atom - A Video Comparison Drone Shootout

These two drones were just begging for a comparison. Both feature cameras on 3 axis gimbals that will shoot 4K 30 FPS video. They have a very similar feature set that includes waypoints and tracking. Both of them are also around that $300 price point. In this video I fly both drones over Lucky Peak reservoir so you can see which one provides the best video.

hi Marcus, thank you for the drones comparison. I have both the white and orange Fimi X8 Mini V2. Both those drones work great. The Fimi has a stacked sensor where the video is pretty good. Oversaturation is an issue, but can be controlled in settings. I always get a precision landing with a round landing pad. Getting a good Fimi X8 is a crap shoot, one may be good and another crap. They aren't DJI quality, but if you get a good one, it's a good drone for the cost IMO.

Good video I have an orange fimi x8 mini v2 and I must say that I liked the image of the Atom better, plus this version 2 of fimi does not have HDR and does not take photos in DMG format like the previous version did.

If this is a camera comparison. There should be a huge difference because the first day was completely overcast and everything covered in snow almost the worst conditions for a camera and the second day there was actual sunlight. I am just watching it now. You are flying the Fimi back in heavy wind. I don't have the Atom but from what I've seen on reviews like your own and I'm pretty impressed with the picture quality.

Marcus, Not sure where you stood but for me the Fimi X8 Video looked a lot better to me. The Potensic either didnt have the wind as bad or just handled it better. Thanks for sharing

Excellent video, cool comparison and attractive scenery. I believe if you would have flown the Atom again immediately after the Fimi flight on the same day in the wind, you would have noticed that the Atom handled better in those harsh conditions. I've flown my Atom in equally challenging conditions, and it's really solid. Video comparison between drones looks similar. I like the VIVID COLOR option on the Fimi for enhanced footage.

I thought the Fimi was slightly better, but it did have the better lighting, which is very important. And the Fimi's gimbal did a nice job in the high winds. I give the edge to the Fimi. Great testing, especially out in those elements. Thanks for sharing.

Hahaha this amazing drone. This is my favorite old mini drone not the 2 version it perform very well my only issues are the horizontal tilt and the color saturation.
