Happy April Fool's! Not a joke video - content starts at 0:49. This video is about heart rate variability's connection with willpower.

I have been using this for a while now just to improve stress and somewhat measure whether or not my meditation practice is being effective. I didn't make the connection between HRV and willpower until reading Kelly McGonigal's book

i used this breathing technique to DESTROY my blackouts during an exam last year. i looked at that sheet and started realizing that my heart was going in an insane rate. I practiced the mentioned technique beforehand in preparation for the exam. a few breaths later i was back to normal and was able to go on. it was the first time in my life that i could go through an exam an be fearless.

To sum up... meditate. The science keeps getting clearer. Meditation is not only here to stay but is actively changing the world by changing the attitude of its spectators. Good stuff WIL!

The best HRV exercise I use is box breathing. Inhale 5 sec - hold 5 - exhale 5 - hold 5 - repeat for 5 min. Simple and super effective.

I logged into FB for the first time in months today, to connect with a person I met the night before at a performance, and wanted to connect with for creative work. I let everyone know I was doing better than I have in so long.

This channel is the instigator of my amazing self improvement journey. I cannot communicate how important your channel and work has been.

Thank you.

i saw that video of the breathing study thing. I tought it was gold, but then as always i forgot it and moved along in my life without any change. Thanks to you i remember thsi again! Maybe it would be a really good video about this, or maybe not, becouse i should just use a board or something to write on. But i actually i am writing things down on my phone but it just get out of my mind completely.

Do one about attention/attention span?

this video is quite accurate, during yogic meditation, we are essentially taught to focus on our breath and its flow, soon you enter into a completely different and better state of mind.

I'm certain we all read and know a little about the topics you talk about in your videos - however how you connect the dots is why I truly value this channel. I don't need to tell you to never stop.

According to the study by Patrick R. Steffen, Tara Austin, [...], and Tracy Brown AND 'The Willpower Instinct' you should actually aim for 6 breaths per minute, meaning 5 seconds inhale 5 seconds exhale, not ten each.
