This is a reference to the comic books that covered Morgan's story, in which he and his son end up starving over the winter. Morgan survives, but his soon was too weak from malnutrition and dies running from zombies. Morgan blamed himself for miscounting the food supply, but when Rick and Michonne tell him they stopped at his place and used his supplies Morgan realizes it wasn't actually his fault.
Edit: It's been a long time since I've read the comic, if you have better knowledge on this you be "paragraph nerd" and explain it instead of just saying I'm wrong.
