Magneto listened because the soldier had a good reason and a real response to what he said he can tell the difference between an order follower and a soldier

Them making Magneto a genuinely reasonable dude who wanted to do right by EVERYONE, but was pushed too far/occasionally caved to trauma rather than just being a "villain" was probably my favorite part of this series.

Smartest thing ever said in the franchise.

I know who you are, I don’t wanna fight.

Even Magneto has to respect the soldier here. Dude is just human, says he doesn’t want to fight, but still stands up to him.

I’ve never seen anyone check magneto the way this soldier did.

Remember, the soldier who reasoned down Magneto. Not many humans can flex that.

Magneto can’t dismiss what the soldier is saying if innocent people were hurt because of what she did, it doesn’t give her the right to run free just because of the prejudice against mutants that’s the whole point innocent mutants being preyed upon just because they’re mutants when she uses her powers recklessly and hurts innocent ppl it doesn’t just reflect badly on her it reflects badly on all mutants not to mention it makes him hypocritical because he was ready to kill her because of Raven

Jean always causes problems then acts like she shouldn’t be held to the consequences of her own actions.

I like that. They came in cordial and would rather reason it out. Instaad of fighting a losing battle

the military man made a strong point tho

The balls on this dude.

Bro walks right up to arguably one of the most powerful mutants in the franchise, also surrounded by decently powerful mutants as well, and does his duty.

I want to point out that ppl blame Charles for the bad stuff in the movie when it’s ONLY been Jean escalating things to the extreme for NO reason 💀 had she hid or used her telepathy to make herself invisible to the soldiers or everyone the camp wouldn’t have been attacked or ruined. She literally tried to kill Magneto in this scene for NO reason cuz he wanted her to leave and take her troubles away from the multiple random mutants in the camp who were getting hurt

Dam this is the most civil conversation Magneto has ever had with a human, let alone the military lol

God, Jean's actress had the screen presence of a rock.

"we don't get the news out here, captain" up until that point, magneto had no respect for the soldier. However, in the end he stresses captain, showing he respects his rank and understands his mission. Further proven that magneto isn't hostile when he tells him to stop activating the helicopter. Completely calm.

Eric respected the soldier here considering how hard it must have been for him.

This is what an ideal soldier should represent. Smart enough to know when he is outgunned and not wanting to fight but still standing his ground for what is right.
