I'm working with some ponies who are renowned as bitey. I haven't had a problem with true "bites" in about six weeks now, and it's because my natural reaction was to do essentially what was shown here.
They are still mouthy and curious, but the only part of me that they've bit recently has been the wrist of my glove, the part you pull to get them on. Otherwise they just feel around with their lips and that's fine by me.

I've tried tbis with my sisterz gelding hes fresh broken and a Brumby, he just bites harder and harder, so i ended up finding ky own way of doing it then tried it on my boy he doesnt bite as much now, and my mare also hates it so she dont either lok, just gotta try on the donkey, but i watch yiur other videos and it has helped so much!!!

0:48 Just saw this! My horse is blind and the main time i have a problem is when i go to halter her and she wants to bite and put the lead rope in her mouth and of course my hands get in the way trying to get the halter on. Have been doing what you recommend before seeing this video just not enough and the way you're recommending. Any other suggestions would be great but am definitely trying this technique.thx so much 🐴

I'm gonna try that with my donkey. She bites all the time and is soooo pushy. Plus she doesn't get scared of I try to scare her away so It's hard to relax arround her.

I don't agree with this, for a biting horse or any correction it is more about surpirse or interruption of the action, which some have suggested a tap to their leg with your foot can interrupt without focusing them on the person, or just making a quick movement, this has worked with me for all kinds of horses from rank stallions to little minis.

Hello! Does this method work with the colts? I have seen many videos, and every single one of them makes me slightly sick to my stomach with how hard they are hitting the babies. If this isn't a good method for colts, is there any that isn't me smacking a baby horse in the face?

Also, those this show any issues with putting bits in? I want him to trust my hands but I don't want him to nibble at me.

I have a 7 year old stud that always tries to bite and reach for my hands and arms when i try to pet him or but his halter on, when i try this he keeps doing and and wanting to bite even more, not in a very aggressive manner but in a playful manner like he is bored and wants attention
