As a side note to the stock issue, GW has just started being sold in one of the UK's large hobby retailers. They don't stock a lot and it's just the items that most retailers get when they sign a GW account. One of the kits on the list are Knight Armatures so chances are the stock was prioritised to supply the contact.

Heck yeah for a video on the business of mini distribution, that’d be super interesting.

I love the Combat Patrol rules. Easy to learn, fast to get into, and quick to play. And it helps to have just a small limit of units so you dont get overwhelmed by abilities for each unit as a new player :D

combat patrol was an amazing way to get me into the game. I was always warry about starting a 40k army and then the combat patrol released and I got hooked. a great starting point for SURE!

I was really excited when I got my issue of White Dwarf that had this combat patrol, because I am running a Chaos Knights army. So now i could finally play short combat patrol games with my friends.

Everyone should own at least one set of these. It's pretty neat GW released rules for them.

The Direct Sales (website) and Trade Sales (Independent Stockists) are completely separate entities. Also the GW Stores are their own distribution system, as far as I know. This leads to strange situations where something can be sold out on the website and in GW stores but still available at an independent stockist. Likewise, things can be available on the website but not at an independent stockist. Also, independent stockists can order from the website but the discount is worse than ordering through their trade account so it not always a smart choice. The whole GW system is complicated. I believe that part of that complication stems from the lawsuits people filed in the 80s when GW started opening stores in America. Those stores just happened to be in areas that had independent stockists that sold lots of GW product. I think that in part is what lead to the separation of the various entities to prevent the appearance of unfair business practices.

I worked in a game store for several years and that's no joke about the weird stock stuff. I'm stunned your store ordered something that wasn't new and you got it in a timely manner, to be honest.

I was thinking about buying an Imperial Knight Questoris or Dominus, but those Armiger Warglaives are a tempting. My new airbrush is being delivered tomorrow, and I wanted to celebrate and break it in by spraying a big stompy model. I bought White Dwarf 506.

I'm about 2 months into the hobby and have been getting by buying intro kits on the cheap.

Although these would be cheaper options it seems like it would be a very atypical game play experience with only two models...

Only 2 Armigers? That's about 280 points at the moment (if you take two Warglaives less for Helverins). The Necron Kill Team is about 450 points and I'm sure that's the level they were aiming at for the others as well.

I'm very interested in a video about manufacturing and distribution. I'm looking forward to issue 509. I've already got the 2 armigers, so I'm keen to see how White Dwarf proposes they get used in a combat patrol game.

I do enjoy that GW keeps supporting Combat Patrol. It feels like the right size for a tabletop for me. Even if the rules are still long and bloated for that size of game. I get a 2000p game of GDF done in the same time as a game of CP.

I just built my first two armigers. Planning an admech color scheme. Super fun kit. Wish they would just sell more weapon packs and datasheets for the base frame

I have the Tau CP with the Ghostkeel and the Dark Angels CP with the dreadnaught and they seem like a nice balance to each other. Might be fun to try it more asymmetric with these titans.

So I have a massive collection of Knights but haven't found the time to play in 10th with the birth of my son. So I was excited when I saw the combat patrol, I also went to my LGS and bought the War dogs cause it gave me an excuse to get collecting on Chaos Knights. Cause big robots are my favorite and each one can be it's only little diorama.
