It’s plaster not regular drywall! He’s actually a very smart teacher. You guy’s obviously haven’t seen much from him. I do custom high end builds and know this dude knows his stuff.

Everyone is too afraid to widen the hole enough to properly fix. Folks, cut it big enough to span 2 studs, then either screw a new drywall piece or in this case more lath strips and plaster, then you don’t have a bulbous pock marked patch that looks like a crackheads cheek

The spray foam completely negated the lathe, the basecoat is supposed to go thru the lathe gaps creating "fingers"

Just sounds you don't like plaster because you do it wrong, too used to doing the cheap stuff lol

The weld takes 24 hours to dry dura bond 45 and a hair dryer …. You could be all set in 30 min….

At least block out the box so the switch is accessible otherwise it’s just a code violation since you hid it and I’d want to pull your permit and maybe license too. This is just cheap amateur and dangerous work.

It's looks nice but it looks like it takes a long time . Drywall tape and mud sand re coat finished what you did looks great bit I think that version is outdated.

You could just have filled it in with dura bond …. I’m assuming that plaster weld is similar …: like JD weld ..

What I see here is a shade tree auto body mechanic doing drywall repair. That process is way too much work and a bunch of garbage now stuffed in the wall, so if an electrician wants to expand the outlet box to add another switch or outlet they are screwed

Even as a landlord I'll never use spray foam in my house. I can't stand that stuff, I usually cut the hole to the width of the studs and put the new drywall patch in.
