Fun fact: Uranus's rings were discovered by complete accident. Astronomers were observing Uranus as it passed in front of a star to study its atmosphere. However, the star seemed to flicker on and off five times before and after the occultation. This was deduced to have been caused by a ring system consisting of at least five rings (eight more have been discovered since then).
