The saddest part is that David said something different to his mother.

He originally didn't care to follow the Arasaka path. Him changing his mind shows the regret in his actions.

This. This is the scene that broke me. Not so much what happened to them afterward but just seeing David finally lose it and Rebecca's sad smile after the realisation the David she loved is beyond saving.

Almost makes me wanna cry, dude had so much potential and it got wasted because the world he was a part of, and he had so many people who loved him even after the world threw him into the mud

And this why I like Rebecca out of all the d characters.

She knows her friend is nearly gone. And instead of running away. Or trying to force him to stop. Or anything like that. She just looks into his eyes and She just smiles. She accepts what’s happened And simply says “alright then. Let’s do this. One last time.”

The way Rebecca still stood by him only shows how good she is. She loved David and wanted him to love her, but still, she willingly went with him on a suicidal mission just so David could save Lucy. She's a true friend.

Not everyone may understand why David didn't stop, but in the world of Cyberpunk the government has practically abandoned it's citizens and the only thing that actually matters is making sure you're remembered. When David's mom was killed, and her ashes pumped out through a vending machine, that was pretty much his breaking point.

This show was so good and a breath of fresh air. No waiting 6 years for a part 2 that may or may not come no low effort animation. It had a story to tell told it and whent out with a bang.

Rather than force david to turn away or use something to try and stip him.

Honestly this was the saddest scene in the entire show. He just wanted to make his mom proud but never got the chance. Night City claimed another.

Love how they manage to make it so it’s essentially the same laugh, but sounds so much more sane in David’s own mind

It's just such a heartbreaking moment. David was gone, and she knew this was gonna be a one way trip. But what else could she do. This was her family and the guy she was crazy in love with.
