Dave has the perfect eccentric personality for a rockstar.

Sammy acts like a normal guy.

Both are phenomenal singers. I really don’t understand the hate either of them get from the other side.

Picking between Sammy and Dave is like picking between tequila and bourbon. They both get you there, but in totally different ways! 😂

My dad hitchhiked across the country in the early 80s. And during his travels he got the chance to bum a smoke off of DLR outside of a 5 star hotel somewhere in Cali, maybe LA. I can’t remember where exactly my dad said this took place in Cali. He asked Roth though, “aren’t you a famous celebrity?” And Roth replied, “something like that, ” as he sparked up the cigarette my dad bummed off of him. My dad said DLR seemed like a normal person while they conversed… until one of his assistants approached him and said “Mr. Roth your chopper has arrived on the helipad”. Roth shook my dad’s hand and followed his assistant to the chopper. It then dawned on my dad that he had just bummed a smoke off of, spoke to, and shook the hand of the lead singer of VH🤘

Both iconic figures to anyone who grew up in the 80s especially the teen years. So many songs bring you back to that one moment

Friend asked me once....
"DAVE or Sammy ?
I said ..."Yes"
It's like asking "who do you like more...Mom or Dad ?"

We are all so lucky they each played the role of frontman because both eras produced great music!

Dave nails the difference between the 2 incarnations. Its that simple. Us original fans were disappointed by the change. But I respect the Vanhagar catalogue.

Hands down the original band songs were lightyears above the second run...total ground breaking songs and iconic stage act.

David is fascinating to me. Brilliant, hilarious, quick-witted and warm. To see him talk just makes me smile.

Love them both, 1984 was my introduction to VH at the age of 10 and instantly went back to the beginning and then rode the Hagar wave as well so I didn’t really have allegiance to either just really loved and enjoyed the sound and craft from the group entirely .
