Aegon will be a surprise for many of you I think.
He is not a good warrior but definitely a smart political guy and a pretty decent strategist.

For anyone who hasn't read the book this is a spoiler but when Aegon is basically crippled and burnt by his fight with Rhaenys and her Dragon Aemond assumes his place and takes his crown but he does not take the title of King. He's just Lord Protector and Prince Regent. He might be lusting after the crown but he still respects the fact his brother is not dead yet and is King.

Aegon has a great relationship with his dragon Sunfyre, probably the only creature he loves without conditions and vice versa. He's considered one of the greatest dragonriders ever, and probably wouldn't have lost control of his dragon the same way Aemond did

Unresponsible at times yes but all he did was try to get his parents approval & in his words he didn’t want to rule the throne. He always seems like he wants no part or to be bothered in conflict in scenes on the show
(besides the dinner ep.8). His character intrigues me.

Complete Aemond apologists bias ! Aegon legit survived every single dragon battle that he was involved in despite how brutal they were, Aemond on the other hand, died in his first actual dragon battle.

There is no person in that freaking time period that had more strength then Aegon II.

He was burn by Rhaenys’ dragon during the battle of Rook rest and had his armour melted onto his chest, sword arm, and neck and was able to survived (thanks to Vhagar coming in by surprised killing rhaenys and Merleys)

Then Aegon haft burn was able to escaped the red keep when Rhaenrya and Daemon took the city.

He was able to reach Dragonstone and convince the dragonseeds to turn against Rhanerya. He battle with Baela and her dragon and again was serverly burn again but this time not only burn his body and face but also broke his hips and torn his legs while jumping off of sunfyre.

He still managed to imprison Baela and stand before Rhaenrya while his dragon finish her and died soon after.

Aegon wasn’t able to sit in the throne for much longer and he was mostly in bed rest during the whole dance. Aemond took regency from Aegon after the battle of Rook rest. He wasn’t able to sit in the iron throne after he killed Rhaenrya because his legs were so burn they twisted inwards and he had to sit on a box at the foot of the throne.

He was poison by one of his own men but I think he thank whoever put him out of his misery.

He was so burn and so dead.

Viserys never looked the he did in the show. Viserys became ill towards the end of his years like 2 or 3 years prior to his death. That is why there was a rumours that the green kill him so they could brown Aegon as they hide his death for almost two weeks from not just Rhaenrya but the rest of the realm as well.

So strength I take my hat off with Aegon. He was basically a burn corpse walking by the end of his days yet he still took the throne.

I’m team black but Aegon definitely hold his ground to upheld his claim. Say what you want but atleast Aegon fought his own war. Rhae on the other hand just let her banners do the work, cry when she lost sons, and stand there and watch. Heck Syrax is probably the most useless Targaryen dragon. The dragon’s only relevant casualty is her rider’s son. Hopefully, the show will remedy this
