I remember how my dad was in a field full of these sort of frogs when he was in Puerto Rico a long time ago. He even called us while there, and we could hear the coqui frogs singing. When I went to Hawaii in 2013, I would hear these frogs serenade us as evening and night came...and they somehow soothed me to sleep while I was in Hawaii.

They disappeared two years ago from my families house when we visited. We’re back this year and so are the coqui! We fall asleep with the windows open and coqui all night.

I was in puerto rico this past weekend and i thought these were bird sounds. A patient asked me if i heard the coqui frogs and i said no. He emulated the sound and sure enough...it was frogs.

It's a disgrace that people in Hawaii think of coquis as pests. The coqui is a harmless and beautiful creature, and is the unofficial national symbol of Puerto Rico. Everytime I hear the coqui I can't help but smile and think about my childhood in Puerto Rico, going to bed every night with the coqui melody in the background

These frogs had also been introduced into Costa Rica where I am living. But, they are only spread in a very reduced area in a city called Turrialba. Coquies do not seem to cause any harm here due to the fact that they have enough food (many insects among others) and predators here. I hope they will arrive to other Costa Rican parts. That would be nice and impressive!
