We use a servoce and are covered year round for all types of issues. We called the out last week for a wasp nest that was on the front of the house. They baited our entire home for mice. It's all covered under one price so we don't have to keep paying for whatever may come up. We also have these traps.

I use the Tomcat sticky traps and have caught many mice and rats. If they are still alive I drop the trap in a bucket of water. Works great too.

I have baited traps set 24/7, also the sticky traps. I had a issue one time, hopefully never again.

Interesting. I’ve been wondering how to kill mice without a trap. Won’t traps hurt a cat?

yup good idea to pre-bait an area before you have a problem....

What about killing up the food chain?
I had a ferocious infestation in my century old cabin home after having been evacuated for a month the El Dorado Fire having burned, literal, in a circle around my little town.
Snap traps, sticky traps.
Nothing could catch up and I refused to possibly kill up the food chain with poisonous bait.
Animals won't eat these rock hard rodents after they've eaten this recipe that worked, zappo, in less than a month.
You're on your own as far as dispensers. I used a plastic deli cookie tray.

Most recipes call
for a 1:1 ratio. The recipe I have found to work is ;
1c plaster of paris
1/2c cornmeal
1/4c sugar,
Shake in mason jar then set out as bait stations in high traffic areas. Replace if it rains.

I learned the hard way, and had an army of rats. I'm down to maybe a platoon of rats now and they go through a 4 pound bag of rat poison each week.
Still cheaper than traps or just ignoring the problem until it's too late.

We have cats. Haven’t had any mice in years

I use the tomcat poison that is in bags. Use it around the perimeter of a 40x70 workshop. I check them once a week and they go through several bags a week. Leave it out year round as a preventative. Great advice.

Thanks, we may have to put some by our squash plants because I have seen them behind my planter box. Thanks for the information and take care!

We got some sticky a few years ago, cause I live right naer the fields, and when they plow, I get mices', mouses, and some times El Rato. But outside. So nayway, caught a garder snake on the paper, got em off and released him behind the barn. Either that or I would have to eat him. :>(

40% of all mammal species on the planet are rodents. I have a feeling this is going to be an endless battle. I got a professional Mouser whose picture is on the left but unfortunately she became good friends with the squirrel.

Just a FYI, rodent baits come in two main styles nerve agent or anticoagulant. The green blocks in this product contain bromethalin which is a nerve agent and will kill a mouse or rat in a single feeding. Anticoagulant type bait causes the rodent to bleed out. The info about the bait causing them to dehydrate so they go outside and die outside is not accurate. Professionals tell this to people so they don't feel bad about what happens after the rodent dies. The reality is they die in the walls but quickly dessicate so they don't really stink.

FYI: NEUROTOXIN: Bromethalin is an acute toxin that kills rodents by disrupting their nervous system. It is a fast-acting poison, so a single dose is sufficient for a rat to die. The downside of this ingredient is the absence of an antidote, which is why it is considered to be very dangerous to use around pets and livestock.
Bromethalin is a neurotoxin that can be very harmful to your pet. Rat poisons often contain peanut butter and/or sugar to attract rodents, and that means cats, and especially dogs, love to get into them. If there is a whole bag available or just a few blocks or pellets of bait out, there is a good chance your dog or cat will sniff it out.

Poison might sound good, but experts do not recommend this option. While it will kill mice, poison can also kill any animals that might feed on mouse carcasses. Owls, hawks, eagles. It can also inadvertently poison pets. Sorry JJ, I've must disagree with you on this one.
