Used to be a private investigator, releasing wrong information is absolutely the best strategy. That and use a PO box for anything that needs a real address if you can. Data is collected from the most obscure places, things like signing up for your local grocery card, all end up in permanent databases somewhere. Misinformation is your friend

That was something only a specialist would come up with, That's social engineering on another level.

They all have agreements with each other to trade data on demand. I worked for a data broker back in the 90's and we did it back then. You could send us a certified letter to remove your information. Once we got the letter, we'd preform the removal, then immediately send requests for that data out to our "competitors" and have you relisted in a couple days. Faster when the internet became available. It happens in minuets now. Poisoning the data really only works if you do it constantly and once you give the correct data to a source that requires it, like the SSA for example, and that data gets stolen, it gets corrected in the brokers tables.

it's because several website/platform have a backend mechanism called "soft delete" so when you hit "delete" the data "seems" deleted, but it's still there, in the database, because when the fucntion triggered, it actually not sending DELETE method, but instead it's sending PUT/UPDATE where it'll updated one of it's attributes making sure it'll never be shown again on the frontend

Carefully crafting and releasing false info about me to various data broker sites? Eh, too much work. What I do is I go online and tell everyone I released fake info, that way no one can trust what’s out there 😂
