The story of Uranus and Gaia reminds me of a Māori folktale I was taught as a child: Rangi (the sky god) and Papa (the Earth) were lovers who always pressed against each other. They had many sons, one of whom was Māui. The brothers were squashed between their parents, and rebelled by lying on their backs on Papa and using their legs and feet to push against Rangi to separate them.
