Can I take a picture of Pluto? I get this question a lot. While I've captured Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, and Venus with my Celestron NextStar 8SE telescope - I've never pointed it at the dwarf planet. But I have seen others attempt it with an 8-inch telescope and it appears as though it were a very small star.

Facts about Pluto:

- Pluto is named after the Roman god of the underworld.

- Pluto was reclassified from a planet to a dwarf planet in 2006.

- Pluto was discovered on February 18th, 1930 by the Lowell Observatory by Clyde Tombaugh.

- Pluto has five known moons.
- Pluto is the largest dwarf planet.

The fact that they were able to see Pluto almost 80 years ago it's just amazing

I’ll never forget the first time I saw Jupiter through my telescope. I geeked out so hard. It’s not the best telescope, but if I focused hard enough and kept the telescope perfectly still, I could actually make out Jupiter’s red spot and it’s tiny moons. I freaked out and was so giddy over it.

Even if it looks like a star, I’d still count it as “a picture of Pluto” Lol

Seeing the stars at night always makes want to fly up there and go beyond, it's soo calm but it makes me zealous

You should do a few month long time lapse and make a little animation of its’ progress across the sky! Even two frames flipped back and forth would be neat!

Hey Chuck, I've imaged Pluto with my 8SE and Hyperstar with the ASI224, and it was easily visible in 15 minutes of 15 second exposures. Great video!
