But nowhere does anything say the merger ensures I am given creative control of the Trek franchise. Dang.

If your an executive, you can literally fail for years and get hired by a competitor immediately. Like this dude oversaw peacock and the downfall of universal in the theatres. And thats before you talk about him being fired for sexual harassment last year. Insane the thought processes of people far beyond our means.

This is probably best case scenario for a lot of people involved. Anyone else would come in and strip it for parts and layoff even more people.

Throughout all these negotiations, my first question is always "What happens to Star Trek?"

Kept away from the news just to hear your breakdown

Very happy to hear this news, and that Paramount won't be stripped for parts. And unusual in our supercapitalist world that a business decision is made with consideration for any other factor other than the biggest pile of money in the shortest amount of time, and screw the long-term consequences. Props to Shari Redstone for standing her ground and David Ellison for making it happen.

Now it's time for the most important question. What does this mean for the Star Trek franchise?

they fired him for sexual harassment and then a competitor hires him and promote him... the system is broken

With the merger, you'll now have John Lassiter working for Paramount Animation. With his storytelling and the TMNT animators, Paramount could give Disney/Pixar a run for their money, especially with Brad Bird on board.

They should call it the Central Access Bundle for Listing Entertainment, or, ya know, CABLE.

I guess I’ll be inside that problem bubble. Oh, wait. I won’t have any problems because streaming will never be part of my household.

Greetings from Houston... Hilariously it sounds like you got it worse from Tropical Storm Beryl that my house did 1 mile away away from the Gulf with Hurricane Beryl... Hopefully everything is okay! Love the videos!

Brilliant video Dan! It was so wet on Monday, torrential, I was in Arkansas on holiday and saw it! I hope your house repairs go smoothly and quickly.

I'm glad it's not another Disney/Fox situation where 20th Century Fox only exists in name only, but they could still make Paramount a little less mega. Like sell off some of the cable channels since more and more people are cutting the cord.

That thing about the dude that was fired now being back at the top of a leadership role for a huge company made me so angry.

Lay offs suck but this is the best case scenario for one of the Hollywood's oldest institutions
