That's what they call "riding right on the edge" of crunch. Ye crank it to the point where it's starting to break up, then dial back the amp a bit. Play gently and ye get nice cleans. Start digging into yer strings to push the amp into the crunchy goodness. Voilà

EDIT: Mind ye, this generally only works on valve (tube) amps. 😉

Best tone I ever found was 3.5 gain on the amp then run a tube scremer set real low so the highs become more clear and then run cleaner sounding distortion pedal, again really low so the lows have that body.

Even 5 note disonant power chord type chords sound clear and you can hear that wobble between intervals

whatever, every time i go to youtube to follow instructions and set up my amp. the next day is still a mess because my 2year old toddler would probably twist all the knobs and I don't how to do it again 😂
