EVERY time this song comes on, I turn it up.  Doesn't matter who i'm with or where I am.

This is a Masterpiece. Not one musician can create or recreate the Doors.

Since 1967, this is my all time favorite song, bar none! I instructed my daughter in the case that I am in a coma or worst, she is to slap a set of headphones on me and play the Doors first album non stop until I'm gone!

love this song, summer of 1967...wow! I was a young navy petty officer, on the carrier Bon Homme Richard, that was Captain Morrison's ship. When I got out of the Navy, I met my wife to be, this was our song, and will always be, still married!

Great 60's (1967) Rock song, great vocals, great solos, R.I.P. Jim Morrison, and Ray Manzarek...

The intro to Light My Fire was so Beautiful, Ray! So very triumphant and dark. Should be used in a scene of a Philip K Dick sci-fi movie.

Thank you Ray.
Rest In Peace, Ray.

Light My Fire
Song by The Doors
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on…

The music of the Doors changed my life too. The philosophy and the cutting edge lyrics were heavy with meaning. And the sound of their music was unlike any rock sound that existed that was present then. Even today when you hear one of their songs one is instantly transported to another time. My book is a vision of his vision butI research the hell out of what influenced Morrison and what made him tick.  He had, I am convinced,   an unconscious vision of a coming apocalypse, including the destruction by heat, street riots and fire of a future Los Angeles (taken from stray lines and phrase from four of his epic songs). Thanks for your indulgence. :)

If I had to pick my favourite song of all time, this would be a top contender

The song is very tight.  It does not sound good unless it is played very loud.    I play it very loud.  I like the way the band members "communicate" with one another.  The back and forth between Manzerek and Kreiger and the drummer" directing" them when to change the tempo of their solos.   Morrison's vocals, along with the keyboards and bass have a heavy "echo".  This is a textbook example of tight, badass band.

A 145 people don't know what great music is ! I spent the best years of my life in the 80's and bleed melodic and sleeze metal thru my veins but even I  know this band and their music was great ! My aunt who was a hippy back in those days babysit me a lot and used to play The Doors all the time so guess it rubbed off on me !
