In this video, we were hoping to be fitting the engine back in to the Abbot, but sadly we discovered further problems...

Put it this way... no matter how bad it gets.. take solace in the fact that you are not fumbling around inside the real Diane Abbot...

These guys deal with rusted bolts and nuts breaking off. I'm surprised they don't have heat induction tool by now. Save alot of time

"It ran and drove" (the seller didn't mention it did that in 1968) 8^) if the final drives had been different ratios, it would have driven in circles real

Seeing your dilemma about the final drive and shaft reminds me of my British sister unit friends (Ubique artillery stationed in Dortmund 1983) telling me that one of the 4 Abbotts they had in their battery, had the gunner's sight on the opposite side of the piece than the remaining 3 guns. No surprise with that design. I was US Army FA in Giessen on the M110A2 8 inch Howitzers.

Thanks for another interesting video, who'd of thought buying used tanks is just like buying/ fixing and selling farm and construction equipment. Half of what you buys probably somebody elses worn out shyte with hidden problems ! if you think buying that from a Scotsman was bad, don't buy it from an Irishman. He didn't look after it any better than the Scottish bloke that sold it to him L.O.L

Huh, things aren't going well, I am restoring a sdkfz222 German ww2 armoured car so far I have to rebuild the engine twice then a new clutch on inspection of the gear box had to put comp leat new innards in then new braking system total rewiring and then the half shaft broke, and it's not parts off the shelf then the compressor broke, and you think you have problems, at least I'm single.

6:12 You see, Joe's just pushing random buttons and pedals that don't actually do anything and Ted's doing all of the work. Bet he gets paid less than you lot as well while you're there slacking it's unacceptable.

Don't worry, "things will get worse before they get worse."
BTW, do you guys actually make a profit or are you funded by some Saudi prince?

You have more chance of getting that abbot working than the one in London

Your steering box rhs the band suspension studs, the rear one is sheared off, pound for a penny its in the sump area.
The steering wont work whatsoever without both band suspension studs, there are 2 each side, front and rear. They ensoure the band to drum gap is constant around the drum circumference.

Looking at when you opened up the steering box top cover, from memory, and I haven't had to do steering box adjustment on these in over 20 years, but the suspension stud is missing from the back. at about 10:48 on the video both those plates should have studs with a t piece and 2 nuts. this adjusts the heit of the band so it isn't rubbing whilst you drive
