I've heard this concerto many times, but, in this performance, was jolted by the first few seconds. This is truly an "on fire" performance by all invovled. It was also nice to hear the second movement played with forward momentum, instead of bogged down into mawkish languishing sentimentality, as is often the case. Instead, we heard the compositional development more clearly. IMHO, this approach is Rachmaninoff style. It requires both passion and intellect, both of which are in abundance here.

Absolutely wonderful rendition. This in my opinion is one of the best I've heard so far. I love the great work and sensibility of both the soloist and the conductor. There's an incredible synergy and connection that I love. To me a great conductor is like a disciplined and knowledgeable soccer referee who can anticipate great plays and goes alone running with the players, at their speed and intensity. This lady conductor, Ms Han-na Chang is an accomplished cellist and knows her score very well for what I can see and leads the orchestra with as much intensity as the very soloist.
