Quel souvenir. Comme Rachmaninov je suis né un 1er Avril.

recently Matsuev's recording had been taken down from Spotify so I had to come back here again and again. No other version beats this. 2:17 was especially magnificent!!!

Denis Matsuev, nailing the 9000-th meter mountain among the global accomplishments of pianism in this concerto - so often played, so many attempts, so much struggle, but then only one Matsuev. He was born to play this. He never reached this high before, nor does he need to - he was simply born for this particular concerto. Utterly and completely mesmerizing, inhumane: a monsterous accomplishment. And yup, the basses we never ever imagined before.

Absolutely sublime Matsuev! The power, the control, the sound, the phrasing, dynamics, technical execution amazing, the lyrical moments... so beautiful, yet not overly done. It would not be an overstatement to say that, this is the best version I've heard so far. And the most Russian one as well in terms of the "vastness of their soul", of which Russians are so proud of.

My sentiment as below. He touched every nerve in my body...so much expression, passion, adoration of the piano and the dynamics are superb. His action in fingering is electric . I am a professional international Pianist having 60yrs. of performances behind me as I'm now 72yrs. old but this man has taken me to a higher level of expertise & his memory is so registered in his mind ...a marriage as I well know my own with pianos & wonderful music written by unique composers who supplied orchestras to feature them leaves me in tears of joy and unsurpassable emotion. Transfixed!

Amazing. We were lucky enough to see him perform the Rach 3 with the RSNO here in Glasgow a few years back. Stupendous!

The moment I saw his Tchaikovsky 1 I knew the Rach 3 ossia cadenza is definitely for him. I'm so glad he did the ossia.

Bravo! An amazing performance, Denis Matsuev is a phenomenal pianist and his passion was evident, Leonard Slatkin and the orchestra brilliant, too.

Absolutely tremendous!
I've heard many versions. No one could surpass Bronfman in my opinion. But this is simply astounding, and what a cadenza!

remember your special, strong and beautiful tone color from the Tchaikovsky competition, but again, your special tone color and long phrasing treatment are amazing.

In defiance of the abuses modernity over the beauties of tradition. Rachmaninoff mourned the passing of the old Russia and defied the new.
One of the best modern day performances I have heard since Rachmaninoff and Horowitz.
