This is surprisingly and refreshingly introspective and artistic for Matsuev. He has grown so much as a musician since he first appeared. It will be interesting to see what he will accomplish in the years to come.

I have played this for years and can ates that this is absolutely brilliant!! Most performances see a muddying of the waters at some point but Matsuev's playing was clear from start to finish. The crisscrosing was effortless and the attention to the stress marks just phenomenal. A+

Wonderfully moving and intense performance. Nobody plays Rachmaninov better than a Russian pianist.

Здорово, конечно, по-своему. Но это всё-таки, море... Должно быть очень эпично, но как-бы надэмоционально, и уж тем более, не нервно в середине. Ну я не знаю как это словами объяснить... Это надо понять и почувствовать. Это картина природы, а не личные нервные человеческие треволнения. Здесь же я слышу человека а не стихию, поэтому это не завораживает. Не знаю, удалось ли мне выразить то, что мне хотелось сказать... Безусловно, я нисколько не умаляю гениальности Дениса. Это всего лишь, мнение... Если кому интересно - можете послушать мою интерпретацию у меня на канале. Хоть мне, конечно и далеко до популярности мэтра Дениса Мацуева...
