So MICROSOFT is making a GENSHIN IMPACT MMORPG...?

Are Microsoft really making a Genshin Impact MMORPG?

Microsoft have made it abundantly clear that they are looking to absorb as many of their competitors as they possibly can in an effort to reinforce their place in the gaming market. With this in mind, during a recent interview, it was confirmed that Microsoft are looking to create the next great online RPG.
Something that could rival the international success of Genshin Impact. The term "online RPG" was used here as opposed to "MMORPG," but games like Lost Ark and Blue Protocol are marketed as "online RPGs," even though players generally consider them MMOs.
Thus it's impossible to speculate the full extent of the multiplayer functionality, but we know it's going to possess it.

If Micosoft wants a success like Genshin impact they will have to learn the term Fan Service !

its kinda crazy how hoyo never expected their franchise to blow up this much and how some of the biggest and most well known and respected gaming companies are trying to recreate their success is insane

Thank you for this informative video I personally think it's a blessing that genshin has received so much traction, this makes genshin a beacon for other games from Asia to make it to the west.

"caught up to the quality of western AAA games" - the truth is western AAA games have been shit for at least a decade now, not a scrap of originality whilst the games get buggier and have less content with each release. Genshin, at least, is way ahead of that level at the moment

Competition is good. With them acquiring Blizzard/Activision we could actually end up getting a proper Genshin competitor.

I hope this actually become genshin competitor but if Microsoft take the route that Blizzard, EA going then I don't have high hopes

🌸😹I would but utter “they shall try”, but shall fail most spectacular, for they are chasing a path already threaded successfully by another, rather than going forward of their own accord.😹🌸

Even if MS manages to make such a game, I can't see it being nowhere near as successful. Everything that made Genshin popular don't have that same level of appeal or barely exist at all in western games - single-player or MMO - outside of a few titles, that expands to a sub-culture beyond just playing the game. Some of the differences of appeal I see:

-Vibrant color schemes and environments [western games are often in earth-tone like color schemes]
-Fast hack n' slash combat with elemental synergy [slower combat in WRPGs]
-The character designs [some are nice over here but nothing that really 'pop']
-Female character appeal [we see how people froth at the mouth over here if a female character is bigger than a C-cup and is wearing summer-esque clothing]
-An abundance of female characters (and with character agency) [western games usually have a male-centric cast]
-Art [anime style]
-Orchestral Music
-Character lore and hangouts [How often are people invested in learning about character backgrounds over here?]
-Casual horizontal content (e.g. frequent events) [vertical progression is more favored over here, end-game, dps meta, etc.]
-Lighthearted character interaction [characters in western games often look/act too serious]

There would need to be more interest in a game besides rushing to end-game, getting rewards, and dps. It's one of the reasons why even WoW struggles for player retention nowadays.

If they can figure out what makes the gacha work on certain games then that's one factor considered I think.
Also based on the recent interview about GI, it seems like it's gearing towards a visual novel-like experience. I forgot the exact words but it's along the lines of "combat is just a small part of the game" and "there is no endgame content", something like that.
Also this Tencent is kinda worrying...at least for me. I dread what their plan is for the gaming world.

So, apparently, I just watched a VR News video and Mihoyo is working on a VR MMO, using the funds they acquired from Genshin and other games to invest in VR development and research? Stix, mind looking into this a bit for us?

🌸😹It would seem that Genshin has become the be all end all, that all shall chase!😹🌸

The only potential competition for Gesnhin that I see is Wuthering Waves. I really don't think anything else currently in development, that we know of, has a chance. If MS can make the deal, and pour the necessary money into marketing, they may make a dent into Mihoyo's profits.

But let's be honest, Genshin has become a cultural phenomenon. It is for gacha games what World of Warcraft was for MMOs. Many companies tried for years to dethrone WoW, with no success. In the end the biggest threat to WoW was Blizzard itself, and FF-XIV rose up not because it was trying to win, but because the developers actually care about making a good game.

And coincidentally, when you log into gentian impact, no matter how you normally play it, you will be in the world all by yourself no other players in the world and tell you team up with someone else or they team up with you. You will be all alone that is the definition of a co-op if you logged in and there were three people there already Then you’re not in a co-op because co-ops require you to join another team when you login you’re not initially in that team it would be a small MMO but it would still qualify plant planet side two is an MMOFPS when you login and you drop down to the planet, there will be a butt load of people on me. Unfortunately, they changed it so it logged you in at sanctuary then you gotta transfer down to the planet. I mean you may be in the sanctuary with several people who are in the same boat you are they just logged in but then you have to join the fight by going down to the planet stupid additional steps that I thought I didn’t understand why people wanted to start out in sanctuary because nobody literally nobody it’s not like anybody stands in sanctuary using it as a hub in fact, already in the world on the server with people whether you’re at the exact location of everybody or not, you’re still in the world with them, your server was chosen when you logged in assuming there’s more than one operating anymore which I have my doubts about because half the time when I login there’s nobody there it’s like 20 people on koltyr and that’s where the fight is going on but the same with Elder scrolls BDO Neverwinter everyone of these games when you login there are people around you for Neverwinter it’s going to be 20 people because that’s the limit to the size BDO it’s gonna be in the hundreds if not thousands of people elder scrolls, it’s a mega server, so everybody is on the same North American mega server or UK mega server those are MMO‘s and that’s how it works you log in people are there in Destiny in warframea or are sort of hybrids and that when you login you’re in your ship, which is your hub which is actually on your consul or computer you’re hosting it yourself but when you choose to drop down to a planet or go to the tower than you’re with 16 other people in a 16 player instance anywhere you go you’re in a 16 player instance unless you’re in a strike or some other smaller size instance or even a bigger one I forget what the biggest PVP instances are but either way that game is kind of a hybrid so it’s war frame and so are several other games in that category not really MMO’s but not really co-ops either but I guarantee you Dension impact other than being a really odd co-op because of the team compositions it’s still a co-op never more than four people

What game might they actually fund? The only games closer to launch is wuthering waves and endfield. New ip might take years to develop just like tof it took years before it launch and its still buggy. If that's the case microsoft might already be too late.

If they want the same level of success then they better make their "Genshin Killer" F2P🤷‍♂️

1:26 In other words, Microsoft doesn't want to lose to anime. Honestly, that's understandable.
