This happened to me in college before a full afternoon class. A chunk of lunch meat got lodged in my throat. I couldn't talk, cough, or breathe, it was absolutely terrifying. I turned to two of my classmates and they looked and laughed thinking I was joking. I literally jumped up and ran to the back of the room and grabbed the one guy who I knew would take me seriously, I did the choking sign and grabbed his hands and put them around my midsection as I turned around and bent over. He immediately gave two upward thrusts and the lunch meat came flying out. It was the most relieved and scariest event to happen to me out of nowhere. Eric Roth, if you happen to be reading this bro, thanks for saving my life!

I like how he said "good luck" at the end, like he knows we're gonna choke in the next few seconds

This video saved my life!
I watched this a few months ago, because I have a tendency to choke on foods no matter how much I chew. It typically isn't full choking, though, more of like a hiccuping half-choke where is can breathe but only very slowly. Today, though, I started fully choking, was stood over the sink and in a complete panic, when I remembered this video. I grabbed a dining room chair, trying my hardest not to freak out because it would only make it worse, and I calmly fell on it. It took a couple tries, and hurt quite badly, but it stopped my choking dead in its tracks, and I was completely fine a few minutes later. I live alone in my apartment, and god am I glad I watched this video.
Thank you.

I was a waiter when I was 18. It was breakfast and the place was EMPTY. I was chilling in the back and randomlly decided to check my table, lady was running around looking for somebody . Came out just in time - saved her life. Im 24 now and Im engaged to her daughter lol. She invited me to every single family event for 3 years, then her daughter and I hit off. Saved her life, now im marrying the person she gave life. Crazy and random. Still blows my mind to this day.

I appreciate your refusal to waste another popsicle in getting that last shot "just right." Thanks for keeping it real.

"Just below the ribcage." *Shows a position very high on the ribcage* Thank you so much for your clarity on this important information.

Terrifying, but it makes sense, hopefully I'll remember this if I'm ever choking to death on my own rather than panicking.

As someone who lives alone, this is one of my biggest fears.

“The calmer you are, the longer you can remain conscious..” Literally saved my life while bleeding out internally at home. My EMT kept yelling at me to keep my eyes open and I told her I needed to do my deep breathing exercises so I didn’t panic, and I truly believe my calmness kept me alive long enough to get to the hospital 😹

I live alone and had never thought of what would happen if I ever choked. Genuinely helpful. Thank you, good sir 👍

My aunt died at Thanksgiving because she went to the bathroom to dislodge and didn’t let anyone know she was choking - and she was a brilliant biochemist. No matter how capable you think you are, get yourself visible while you attempt (even though I didn’t think to do that, but I was thankfully successful).

As someone who has choked and died alone, I can confirm this is a great technique.

This video literally saved my life.

I watched it for the memes and then several weeks later almost choked to death.
Thank god I remembered what Jason said and showed here.

I haven't watched this video, because I can't. But I need to leave this comment here: My mother was a dialysis nurse for 25 years. At the age of 48, she was home alone cooking beef stew. She tasted a piece of beef from the pot, choked on it, and died alone. She knew what to do. Hell, I remember her teaching ME what to do growing up. Don't underestimate the panic factor.

That being said, THANK YOU for posting this video. This information is so important. Love your channel. Love what you do. Keep up the good work.

The "good luck" at the end really stole away every ounce of confidence this video gave me...
