You should recommend a mineral based sun screen for darker skin because they leave a terrible white overcast on our skin.

If anyone is really interested on this subject, you should follow board certified dermatologists instead of influencers. Dr. Dray is one of my favorites (but not the only one) because she is HUGE on the importance of wearing sunscreen on a daily basis and she has a plethora of videos on the subject (the differences of both mineral and chemical, the best & worst ones to buy, etc).

Stop blindly believing everything influencers tell you.

Maybe change the title to _Why you should use mineral-based sunscreen instead of chemical-based, _ or something like that. You make it sound like we shouldn't use sunscreen at all, and that's how I've gotten hellacious sunburns back in my childhood.

If you don't like any of these sunscreens thats okay. Get it shipped from France. La Roche Posay, Vichy, Avene, SVR, Eucerin all make great products with advanced filters not available in the US.

The problem with mineral sunscreens though is that they leave a horrible white cast, especially if you have a darker skin tone.

Ive been using mineral based sunscreen for awhile. But the super high quality nontoxic ones are so expensive, im currently using the equate mineral sunscreen since its only like 4$, but i prefer to just cover up and stay in the shade when i go outside for long amounts of time and use sunscreen as a last resort, or use small amounts

A boat’s certified dermatologist said mineral sunscreens are absorbed into your skin as well is a myth that people say they don’t absorb 😊

I use badger for my kids. It covers well and never had a problem with sunburns.

Chrmical sunscreens are my go to sunscreens. In EU they can be very good as they contain more modern filters.

Yeah I used to use chemical sunscreens and would ask myself why I feel weird and can taste it in my mouth and feel it in my eyes. I guess it was the benzine in it, it’s pretty toxic when not bonded with other molecules. But the zinc oxide or titanium oxide. But instead of getting these cheap brands without any boosters or correctors. I prefer to use le roche posay anthelios sunscreen with ox shield.

No, chemical sunscreen cant disrupt anything since they don’t penetrate blood circulation. The same reason why you need to do blood test with isotretinoin but not with topical tretinoin. They the same thing.

The propellants aren’t butane or propane. Likely it’s carbon dioxide or some other inert gas. Propane and butane ARE propellants, but only when used for explosive or thrust application, or in a blow torch. In this case, it would even be dangerous to have propane or butane as the stored propellant. Odds are it’s carbon dioxide.

Protective clothing is the way to go. Interesting how the public doesn’t question the effects of these chemicals

I see people mentioning how these leave a white cast, especially on darker skin. I have medium skin and just either mix a foundation/BB cream with my sunscreen (on my face) or just wait a minute for it to sink in. But I found also found a few options that might work for darker skin and still be bobby approved, the 100% pure one is in my opinion the best:

Babo Botanicals, Daily Sheer Tinted Mineral Sunscreen Fluid, SPF50 (spf 50, $20.25)

Glow Natural Daily Tinted Mineral Face Sunscreen and Moisturizer (spf 30, $35)

Raw Elements Tinted Facial Moisturizer in Bronze (spf 30, $21.99). I've used this one in a lighter shade and I like the formula, probably not good for oily skin

100% pure BB cream, has three shades the last of which (Radiance) looks like it would work for medium dark skin (spf 30, $44). This is the one I personally use in the medium shade, and I always get compliments on how great my skin looks. They have semi annual sales or random/holiday deals, so I just plan accordingly and make sure to get it on sale since it's very expensive.

So glad you addressed this! It has come up lately and I didn’t know what the issues were. Thank you

Appreciate you preaching this stuff. I recommend you do one for tick repellants.

My dermatologist said on the face and neck and ears use the mineral but for protection at least on the outside of the skin. Unfortunately it's the chemical based that are the better ones to protect the epidermis as I said on the outside

I like getting a little tan in the summer instead of lathering my skin up with sunscreen. We don’t get much sunlight where I live and I’ve had a vitamin D deficiency for as long as I can remember. A little exposure to sunlight is wonderful contrary to popular belief.
