Wait, so Lochte actually did get held up?! How am I just now now hearing about this in 2024? Media did that man dirty.

"The gun was not held against his head but rather pointed at his chest?" - Well this changes everything!

That’s what I like about Patrick . One week he can go from hip hop drama to sports drama the following week or any other unrelated subject while keeping us invested .

This is so sad. A politician can compulsively lie on a daily basis for a living, but a drunken athlete gets one detail wrong when recollecting a stressful event and the entire media decides to make an example out of him.

Patrick doesn't remind us to drink water anymore, I've been dehydrated for months now

Being drunk in a foreign country is so dangerous. There will be always some people just waiting to have reason to rip them off. Being hold at gunpoint and yelled at in a foreign langauge is crazy.

Brazilian police more concerned with making the country look better instead of stopping actual crime LMFAO.

So to summarise:
- Swimmer gets drunk, pulls down a sign from a wall.
- Armed men see this and pull their guns on him and his friends, and demand money.
- He then gives an interview whilst still drunk and didn't get the facts 100% accurate.
- He later admits to the vandalism and says that the gun wasn't to his head.
- But him and his friends were STILL held at gunpoint until they gave over money to random men.

So what should the punishment be? 🤔
1. Be made to pay for the damage and issue a public apology?
2. Be arrested and sentenced for the vandalism?
3. Loose all of your sponsorships, your career, and be vilified for being held at gunpoint until you gave over yours and your friends money to random men.

Whether it was at his head or chest, at close range or head... they held him at gun point over a sign and lied!

this was blown way out of proportion. at this point, you just gotta feel bad for the guy.

The fact that news channels were trying to call this 28+ year old a “kid” is hilarious

His poor mom must feel so guilty too, she thought she was just venting to a man on the bus about something scary that happened to her kid and everything imploded from there.

This paired with how outraged everyone was when Phelps got caught hitting a bong at a party makes feel so bad for these athletes. The pressure they're under to be inhumanly perfect in immense.

as a brazilian, i clicked on this video with my own preconceptions formed from the articles i read when this was all happening. i never really thought about this situation again so i had no idea of the all ryan went through as a result of this. thank you for talking about this. i hope he is well

His only mistake was trying to make up a story and then apologizing.
NEVER APOLOGIZE.

The Olympic committee should look after their athletes properly and do their own investigations instead of what happened here

Poor Ryan. This video legit makes me feel terrible for him. Seems the punishment outweighed the crime.

Jimmy Feigen became an injury attorney and represented my sister in a dog bite case. He really wanted to learn the law after getting kicked out of Rio LOL

I actually grew up with one of the 4 swimmers involved. We were on the same swim team, and I always looked up to him because of his insane work ethic and drive. He was also a lovely person, and went out of his way to mentor younger swimmers. This scandal ruined his life and the swimming career he dedicated his entire life to. I haven’t seen him in years, but my heart goes out to him.
