🧐Frequently Asked Questions About Our Online Lessons:
Q❓: I have no experience with katana. Will I still be able to catch up?
A💡: You don’t need any previous katana martial arts experience to participate in our lessons.

Seki Sensei, the instructor of the online lessons, will carefully instruct you on how to handle the katana regardless of your level. You will also be able to access all the videos of the past lessons so you can watch what every other student has learned. You can also send us videos of your progress, and Seki Sensei will be happy to give you feedback.

Q❓: What is the right length of the Iaito (zinc alloy training katana) I should use?
A💡: Please purchase an Iaitō at least two blocks longer than the standard length.

The standard length for Seki Sensei is about 177cm, so he should use a 2.45 Shaku long katana. However, he uses a 2.6 Shaku-long katana that is supposed to be used by someone 190cm tall. If the katana is too short, it becomes too easy to draw, which is not good for training.

Q❓: Can I join even if I belong to a different Ryuha style?
A💡: Yes, it’s not a problem at all.

The Seki Sensei himself has trained in more than five styles and various other weapons. If you don’t want others to know that you are participating, you can join the online lessons with your camera off. To have the Sensei check your progress, you can send us a video of you practicing.

Tsukada sensei is that guy everyone assumes is the side character until he starts taking names

Seki Sensei kills you with a straight face. Tsukada Sensei kills you with a massive smile on his face.

I imagine Tsukada-sensei's mindset went from "Learning this style will help my acting!" to "My acting helps me perform this style!" rather quickly. He certainly is good at moving in quick and odd motions when needed; the acting experience shows regularly.

I was always impressed by Tsukada Sensei. You don't get to be the Headmaster's regular partner unless you're very very good. Now finding out he's been at it for less than a decade? Wow.

I have always been impressed with Tsukada sensei.
He seems like such a chill and relaxed guy

I can tell つかだ先生 is an actor because his Japanese is really easy for me to keep up with as a learner. His annunciation is so much more clear and deliberate.

He seems like a cool guy to hang out with.

I'm more impressed with Tsukada-Sensei skills now that I know he is only training for 8 years! This is not that much when it comes to martial arts, I assumed he was training for decades!

I had a hunch Tsukada Sensei was an actor, he always puts a lot in his facial expressions and overall reaction when doing kata in the videos.

I'm glad we finally got to meet Tsukada sensei. I knew there had to be more to him than meets the eye! Seki sensei is the Grandmaster of Asayama Ichiden Ryu, but it takes someone very good to allow him to demonstrate his techniques at full potential, and I've noticed the way Tsukada sensei dodged or deflected some improvised attacks with weapons he's not trained for.

Now i didn't know he was also involved with the behind the scenes portion of these videos, how many other skills is he hiding? 😁

I never thought of him as the "guy in blue". He was the one who replied my messages when I first contacted the school via Facebook. And the fact that he appeared along side the shihan showed that he was a high-ranked member of the school.

My best regards to Tsukada Sensei, a big hug from Chile! 🤗🙏

Since Tsukada sensei has experience in video editing, I can assume that he is the guy who helps the most in the post-production? It's probably fun, the techniques from Seki sensei, the filming from Shogo san and the video montage from Tsukada sensei is what brings the channel to life. Sweet

As a kendoka myself, I will never take a good motodachi for granted. Tsukada has my utmost respect for what he does for the dojo and the channel.

As α fellow theatre kid whose interest in stage combat inspired his interest in real combat, it’s cool getting to meet Tsukada-senses like this!
