It's just Athena throwing them back at Kratos whenever he's not looking. The only act of pettiness she has left in her now.

when you think about it, Kratos could pull the "infinite money glitch" by just selling his Blades of chaos to random dwarves or strangers then go home and goes to sleep as soon as he wake up the Blades will just lying there beside him

I believe that it was in the comic that showed during Krato's journey to the Nordic land, he even at one point threw the blades off the boat he was on, and then right afterward a storm occurred and struck Kratos unconscious. When he woke up at the shore, the blades sit right next to him.

“I tried. They came back” the way he says that is so funny

"They came back" is a reference to his journey in Egypt. In the comics he threw the blades away only to find out waking up with them in the morning LOL. He even said that he already expected that the blades will be back.

It's like metaphor, you never skips away from bad things instead you find a way to make good use from it

Wait.... is that like a dad joke? Because he literally throws his blades at his enemies and they come back everytime....

In a ironic sense, they are his most loyal companion since they stayed with him even past the death of Ares and of the Greek pantheon, sure they were given to him by Ares as a symbol of his bondage to the war god and killed his wife and daughter with them, but they remained and when he had to put his trust in them when Atreus became sick they still served him Helheim

Its explained in the books that the Blades of Chaos are basically with Kratos forever no matter how much he wants to throw them away or destroy them. Only hiding them is the only option as long as he doesn't desire of getting rid of them the Blades will not come to him

highly recommend the book even better is audio book version which is read by the voice actor of mimir

Faye: Goodmorning dear, I'm gonna go get breakfast re...Kratos did you try to throw away your blades again?

Kratos: umm...no 😶

Faye: Really? So you just thought they just looked nice planted on the ground at our front door?

It’s true. Somewhere in between games, he tried throwing them into the ocean, I think. But they actually did come back because, in some way, they’re bound to him.

0:27, i can only imagine Kratos travelling several miles, to throw his blades into the ocean, just to comeback days later to his home, to find his blades right in the ground 🤣🤣

in the prequel novel before GoW 4, Kratos tried to get rid of them, even to the point he dropped them to the bottom of the sea only for a storm to brew up and sink his boat, the next morning he was washed ashore with the blades on his side

For those who don't know, they're cursed to always come back to him, no matter what he tries to get rid of them
