I've struggled with insomnia for 15 years... I should make a video talking what has helped me.

Well I can never get to sleep because I'm constantly thinking. Like I shut my eyes, lie there for 2 minutes and then my brain goes "I wonder why I never see baby pigeons?" Then I spend an hour researching and looking it up, then try to go back to sleep and KABAM "What does space smell like?" It's an endless cycle. Can anyone help?

When I try to sleep it all just starts circling in my head... Every single problem, even if it is so small... I begin getting stressed and can't lie still and I find myself staying up until 5 am without knowing it... It's as if time is sped up...

I fall in bed for about 1 hour without any phone or distraction, in almost completely dark room, still can't sleep.

Every night, I'm on my bed, no phone, lights out and eyes shut but I can't sleep. If I lay down at 11pm I end up falling asleep by 4am. When I started complaining to my parents they said it's because of the light of my phone. When I talked about it with friends I barely got a reaction. Now everyone is like "Oh, yeah that's horrible. Moving on..."
Even tho it's tiring I learned to live like.

These tips help with minor sleeping problems, not with insomnia. They are as helpful as telling someone who can't sleep to read book or drink non caffeinated tea before sleep. Don't sleep for full week and someone tells you to drink some tea. It's frustrating sometimes. What helps is different for everyone. Sometimes it's the things that people tell you to avoid, that don't cause it or drinking coffee before bed is the thing that relaxes you so that you can fall asleep. Sometimes taking a nap is the thing that calms your nerves after few sleepless nights that you can finally fall asleep. Sometimes it's not the sleeping pill that is needed, but anxiety medicine etc. Sometimes it's symptom of other problems that you need to treat. Sometimes you can't control how loud is your environment and can't control how comfortable is your earplugs, but you can mask the noise with radio. It's said that don't watch tv before sleep, but that might be the very thing that distracts your stressful thoughts and allows you to fall asleep. Try different things, all advice doesn't help. Sometimes need to arrange whole lifestyle to support your sleep. Some people can sleep no matter whats going on in their life.

I haven't been able to sleep for a while, and when my brain actually finally wants to sleep it's time to get up

Sleepless nights have had a huge impact on me. I will tell you that drowning out the background noise helps. I love how this video details insomnia and how it affects us.

Im scared to explain this to my parents. I think I'm suffering from insomnia because all of these symptoms match exactly how I've felt the past month. Any advice? I'm 13

My heart aches reading some of peoples comments. I’m crying knowing that I’m not alone and that others feel/understand my pain. I get 3-4 hours of sleep a day, 5 if I’m lucky and it really takes a toll on me. Being a high schooler with a lack of sleep does damage to how I go about my day and I really wish it was something I could talk more about. Being stuck in a never ending cycle makes you feel trapped. I’m hoping one day I break these habits and get a peaceful sleep. If you’re reading this and struggle as well i wish you all the best in your journey to find peace because you deserve it.
My heart sincerely goes out to anyone with this condition. Btw. I’m writing this at 5:41 am, I’ve been up 20 hours :, )

I think I have social anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
I’m younger than 13 and I feel as if I’m sad and mad and sleepy everyday but somehow pull a smile on my face daily

Sleep just doesn't come. Sometimes I just burst into tears because I want to sleep so bad but just can't. I feel exhausted during the day but as the evening approaches, I am wide awake. On a good night, I fall asleep after 3-4am. Its hell when I go 2-3 days without any sleep.

Worst part is that nobody understands, which leads to depression and sucidal thoughts at times.

Do you know what I When people wake me up for some reason when I've fallen asleep, and it's only been an hour or two since I was awake last.
I don't care about food, or if you want to know if I know where the scissors are, or if you're telling me that we have plans tomorrow, I'm going to have to be awake for another 10 hours _minimum_ to get sleepy enough to get back to sleep. What the hell am I supposed to do for the next 10 hours to burn enough energy for my body to surrender to sleep?
Then they want to bitch at me, because when tomorrow actually rolls around, I haven't slept since the night before and I stumble around exhausted for the rest of the day. Or decide I'm not going out with them, because I'm _finally_ tired enough to sleep, and to an insomniac that is one of the best things to do with my time (much to their confused irritation).
