To endear the game towards noobs(myself) an option needs to be simple then become complex as the game goes on, not be complicated straight away.

Never play DnD or any game like this, jumping in blind, don't understand most of it, only using basic attack and abusing environment is really fun, just killed most goblin leader by shoving them to the pit.

If combat is too hard, pick high charisma characters to talk your way out of it. Also, put the fame on easy mode. 😊

I'd say the combat really isn't as complicated as people are making it out to be. It can be a little overwhelming to start with but you pick it up fairly quickly. Just read out all your character abilities and start thinking of ways to use them in tandem. For example I'll have a wizard use a sleep spell and then a rogue do a stealth melee attack to guarantee a kill. Only takes a couple hours to get a decent grasp of.
