For those wondering, without having to watch the entire video. The answer is $15k average, which is given in the last 30 seconds. If you want validation for the $15k then watch video.

I like that the videos here teach some of the process and things to look for. Not necessarily DIY tutorials, but informative enough to keep homeowners aware of the warning signs and what's involved in the process and why. Maybe a great sales pitch of your work, but the transformations on this channel are undoubtedly badass. I know you're the crawlspace ninja, but I'd love to see even more basement videos as well (e.g. what to watch for, best practices for moisture mitigation vs all the products available, finishing prep, insulation, airflow, and maybe even radon mitigation). I feel you know enough to be the basement samurai.

The fact that I’m an electrician is giving me a huge leg up. I’ve already done at least 2K in electrical repairs as I was installing the French drain. I still have to run a dedicated outlet for the sump. (I temporarily connected it to the exterior GFCI circuit.) My crawlspace is 3’ to 12-14” tall. But, after finishing the French drain yesterday, I don’t feel like there is ANYTHING I can’t do. That was by far the hardest project I’ve EVER taken on. I’m 41 and have done almost every kind of construction there is. I have bruises from head to toe. But, my crawlspace is dryer now than it’s been since 1961!!

I'm in the process of encapsulating my crawl space, its definitely time-consuming. The "no unexpected problems" comment was priceless. thanks for the chuckle.

They should make this part of the building code and have it done when they build the house. Like someone mentioned, It would be a lot eaiser to pay for it as it would be wrapped up in the 30 year mortgage rather than coming up with 15k to 20k out of pocket.

In central Arkansas I was quoted $9500 for cleaning out and encapsulation of a 915 square foot house with a dehumidifier, lights, insulation around the perimeter, and a new access door.

Telling people to look at quality and not price is a great way to alienate everyone who can barely afford to DIY it lol.

Is it suggested or required to put in vent exhaust on a complete encapsulated crawl space? Thanks, Paul

I work in healthcare and I’m not a doctor. My time is worth more at home doing a project then being at work.

Im from a competitor company and i found the average cost as of late is really based on SQ ft 800-1000 sq is about 10-12k. 1100-1500 13k-17k 1600-2000 is always about 20k+

This guy really knows what he is talking about. He made me laugh when he said, “Who do you want to hire, some work release?”

I'm more interested in understanding how to figure out what the ROI is. How do I figure out the savings per month I should be able to achieve

What type of insulation can be used after a basement encapsulation?

How on earth do electricians charge 1500 to put on 3 or 4 outlets? I can do that in an hour, probably less. I'm on board with the idea of paying pros to save my labor time, but basic electrical like that is not at all difficult.

My only complaint with contractors is that, in general they don't cut people a break when they could and still make a profit. I have a crawl space right now that I am getting estimates on and have a tight budget. I know my budget is enough to give a profit to any contractor that does them regularly, but I have a feeling the quotes will be more. I have gotten one quote that I could make work, and of course there is a mix of opinions about the company, my contractor that is doing my kitchen, windows etc, even said to steer away from them, while I have seen others online say they are great. The house isn't an expensive house, so anyone giving a 20k estimate might as well give a 100k estimate, cuz it isn't happening. House renovation is annoying.
1950s house, 1500 square feet. Concrete floor and poured walls. One wall does have a crack, was given a 1600 estimate to fix that. Sump pump keeps standing water out, but water gets in through crack and seeps in from somewhere, but again as long as the sump pump stays working, no pools in there. I don't care what it looks like down there, just want it dry and not making mildew.

Do you have recommendations for how lower income folks can prioritize and break up the whole process of crawl space rennovation? 40k would be near impossible all at once and waiting till the money is saved up would allow for the wood and conditions of the crawlspace to get worse over that time frame.

Dude, how do you introduce/exhaust fresh air into an encapsulated crawl space? I just built a house in the alutian chain in Alaska, 4 foot crawl space, in floor heat, I had vents, nope!! I shut them suckers down, overkill on sealing any air leaks. Encapsulated to the sill plate. Now I’m just worried about creating a confined space? Help. Support support. I need your help mr church! I put a dehumidifier down there. At 50% Considering getting the one you mention in description

Thanks for the good video, I am having a house built in eastern Ky, I want the conditioned crawlspace with a 10min vapor barrier along with concrete slab over it. I am trying to get advice on that option. Can you offer your opinion?

Why don’t they just encapsulate it when they build the house

I just found your channel. Do you offer some sort of consulting service. I have a 4 plex and it looks like a nightmare in the crawl space and I don’t know where to start. The square footage is huge to me. I was going to start by having some high schoolers rake it level and remove all the debri and rubble at $12/hr. Do you have consulting service I can get help from? Thanks
