I love the progression from cave men using sticks and stones to sci fi iron man using energy swords and lasers... Feels great to look back and see how far I came from...

The peak of ark was Aberration, that’s when survival was hard but with enough preparation you could tackle the challenges. Since extinction everything kept getting easier and easier.

The tech in the early game was more of an ominous presence that added a cool sense of mystery to what was happening. A power above the player that they can’t understand. That’s what I liked about it.

Bought the game a couple weeks after it came out, I miss those days. I remember I once was living in south zone 2 and I met this guy who lived just down the beach. I tried to rob him at first but then eventually got acquainted with him and we teamed up. I played with him on ark for the next 2-3 years, jumping server to server and building up, making allies, making enemies, becoming alpha, getting raided and repeating. Back then, if you had a big stone base with a few plant x and a lvl 25 rex you were pretty much considered alpha. I hadn’t spoken to him since we were meshed and stopped playing a few years ago. Only thing I have left of the ol days are a few screen recordings that I saved since I was on PS. I still watch them occasionally.

I think the difference is it was a dinosaur game with sci-fi elements but now it's a sci-fi game with dinosaur elements

All the “good old days” of Ark was us not knowing any metas just having fun tryna keep our parasuar alive. I remember the first time I saw plant species x and thought it was impassable people need to accept the game didn’t change.

Edit: Snail Games really ruined the game and is about to completely kill it they’re going bankrupt and are promising sales percentages from the “new” ASA for loans from bigger companies I really hope that they get boycotted and lose the rights to Ark our game needs fixed, and better yet we need Ark 2 to be a functional enjoyable experience.

This is why I like that they added the Ark Primitive Evolved game mode, which is exactly this, for those who don’t know, in the bottom right corner of the main menu where you got join, host, etc, theres a game mode selection, one for normal which its always on, and a primitive version, it removes alot from the game mind you, the super high tek stuff and all, but it also adds a lot to make up for it

I feel like that "golden era" was from base game to somewhere between SE and Ab
While I adore aberration, the game definitely felt differently going forward

It's more about how tek makes the dinos completely unneeded, and the dinos is what defines Ark

I definitely played arc in a time where we only used dinos to kill each other. If not a dino, then it was spears or a crossbow if you were lucky.

I just felt like the power creep eventually took hold of the game. Went from argys and ankys to magmasaurs, skiffs, and striders.

They miss their first community. I remember playing for hours on official servers drinking beers with tribe mates farming medal. Some of my favorite moments on arc can never be repeated

In my perspective, the old days of Ark were building a base on a raft and trying to break into stone houses by hitting the walls for 30 minutes with my buddy because we did not know about the explosives. Reaching level 100 was taking more than 100 hours of gameplay.

The best days of Ark were when nobody knew anything about metas, meshing, or cheating. Every base was different in style, setup, and difficulty when raiding. It was truly a chaotic but fun experience.

I think that some people just don’t want to play with all the tek because some people maybe think it ruins the feeling that they feel when playing early to mid game ark

Started watching and playing since Ark came out when Spino or Swamp don't even exist. And I feel like Ark nowadays is much better than the past, you have a actual goal which are the boss and more things to play with.

My best pvp moment was early 2016 building a stone 2x2 and with a buddy just holding off waves of beach bobs was hilarious for about an hour then it become a 10v2 😂

It went from dinosaurs, to dragons, to Pacific rim and pokieballs, to electric tigers that can double jump and dismount u off anything.
