Great video Nerdboy and spot on with the points you mentioned! I definitely agree that the optimization needs to be their top priority! As you already know I had MAJOR issues when I first got the game, it was literally unplayable for me until I upgraded my PC to be able to play it, but there are still so many people who still can't even run the game :/

When are you going to come back and play ark again Miss watching you play.

Good stuff. The biggest reason the monetization happened was because of the cost for everything to move forward. That was me upside down on an argy! LOL

I want to play ASA and I want to like it. But my desire to play is outweighed by the resentment for what I perceive as dishonesty and lip service from Snail. I can't bring myself to support the company when I feel like they're not listening to or thinking about their player base. Overall, though, I want it to get better, to be better. Until then, it's ASE for me.

I am holding my breath, I started Ase when it first came out, it took couple years before they got it "mostly" right. I love Ark and I want it to always be here for me when I get bored and just want to log on and whack trees and build, but I will say as a veteran of the game, PUT OUT A NEW MAP, a map we have never played on!

I like playing Modded maps.. Svart, Insaluna, prisminius, Astraeos, etc, etc,

ASA should have started with all the maps available at the start with plans to add new content. I think that would have kept the ASE transition issues more minimized if all12 maps or so were available at launch

Nice synopsis, thank you.

Where to start... I have spent around $3k getting my PC to sometimes hit 60fps, with a chunk of that being bled into a 4070Ti Super maybe 4 months ago. Did this help? Yes and no. I can see the jank and bugs in higher detail. 50/50 bug perseveres, new death patches have miraculously appeared where there were none, mesh spots that were always there, are still there, carried over from ASE... rebuilt map? I think not. Let us not forget that we loyal Ark players were promised this for free for our dedication and continuing support of WC over the past 8yrs. But wait, hang on, let's redact that statement and charge money, this is where the outrage began to brew. A price was thrown out into the wild, Jeremy was gagged and Snail said "the peasants will pay". Guess what? We paid, we were salty, but we paid up. The ensuing cluster-f of performance demolishing and GPU torching jank that ensued just enraged the community. The sunsetting of the official servers, the deal with the devil (Nitrado) who effectively monopolised the server market. Remember Day 1 legally you could not host your own server? It took them a couple of weeks to reverse that stance. They were threatening legal action over people who wanted to host a server from their home PC to play with their friends. My memory is really not that short.

Where are we now? I am playing my favourite map, Aberration, and coincidentally my last map on ASA. Our 14 strong community of cross platform players have mostly given up, leaving four of us determined to beat Rockwell, and vowing never to return to ASA ever again. My spino trips over twigs and gets stuck on pebbles, the foliage is so dense that I can't see my rockdrake 3ft in front of my character. Said rockdrake is much worse to fly than on ASE, it meshes, gets stuck, crashes into trees ad nauseum, grips onto things that aren't visible. Basilisks magically go invisible, inadvertent acid balls one shot you as you innocently try to navigate 3m tall grass. Constant mesh holes, including on the surface insta-kill players and their fave tames.
I could write a book at this stage. The Island, SE, The Center, Ab... beautiful graphics if you never want to leave your base and immerse yourself in the light shafts of the setting sun.

About me, 1.5k hours into ASE PVE official. 4k hours ASE unofficial servers. 1k hours ASE PVP official. 1.5k hours ASA game admin and mod on unofficial server. Yeah, I am the lucky person that has to help all these stuck gamers out and recover their gear, and resuscitate their tames, if I can.

I stand in full solidarity with my fellow PVPers who have had this game systematically destroyed by P2W. Looking at you Oasisaur, pyromane and Club Ark with "spin the wheel" reapers.
Time for a lie down and a cup of tea. Over and out.

i feel like the biggest issue on pc is the optimization as you said, lack of content also, but they should have figured a way pll would be able to play on lower end specs even at cost of visuals, a 1080 ti as minimum is crazy

Asa is good. I play on ps5 single player. There is some jank but thankfully there are console commands if not for that I probably would’ve deleted the game. I beat manticore and it deleted my save and didn’t give me my element. Other than that ps5 version is pretty good. I have 1, 000 hrs Asa and close to that on ase. I played ase on steam deck and Asa is a better experience for me on ps5. Only visuals that irritate me is the red that pollutes everything when the sun rises. The staggered release of maps doesn’t really bother me. At least I have time to beat the maps as they drop. I’ve already played them all anyways. I do miss tek creatures though. I would rate Asa a 7.5 out of 10 with it going to 8 when tek creatures are back. lol
