I gues that rockwell decided that challenging the survivor that already beated him up, and that now has control over the 3 titans was a stupid idea, so he infected the ship and got the hell out of there, taking controll over the ship and starting with the genesis story

He uploaded himself to the genesis ship, and the survivor you play on in genesis can either be the same one who went through the other arks, but can be an entirely new survivor

See I always thought that the launch of the ship and arks happened simultaneously to each other and I imagine Rockwell appeared on the ship the same way hlna got on board

This is awesome! I didn't even know there was a plot to ARK and this is totally igniting that spark to play it. Unfortunately I don't have a whole lotta people to play with, none actually, and even if I did I have no idea what I'm doing and I always adjust the settings so it's inadvertently impossibly in my favor, but no matter what the game 100% of the time becomes... how many Dilos can one man tame.

My early theory was that some of the advanced survivors decided to build the Genesis ship and used the aberration ark to build the Genesis ship. Thereby allowing Rockwell to be transferred over.

as soon as i heard spoilers ahead i stopped and scrolled. thanks, for saying it, i wanna experience the story myself :)

after the abberant ark crashed, rockwell and the corruption got into the ship and infected everyone but your player character, at that time your player character finished the genesis simulation and wakes up, rockwell grabs you and throws you into genesis part 2 and you eventually fight rockwell to save everyone. that is my understanding of the story
