Our Rice Krispies Treats recipe are Grandma Alicia's special recipe that's a little *extra* goodness that makes these the best - a little extra butter, some vanilla and extra marshmallows, plus a whole lotta love. We make it all in one pan, then form it on parchment paper so it's easy to cut and share - no messy pans or dense, dry rice krispy treats!

Now you can make the best rice crispy treats recipe too with this easy recipe that's better than the original rice krispies treats recipe on the back of the box. Here's the ingredients you'll need to make homemade rice crispy treats that are soft and chewy:

Best Rice Krispies Treats Recipe Ingredients
about 5 cups mini marshmallows (optional: plus 2 more cups added later)
about 5 cups rice krispies cereal
6 tablespoons salted butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

How To Make Rice Crispy Treats
Over medium low heat, melt 6 tablespoons of salted butter in a large heavy bottomed pot. Stir in 5 cups of mini marshmallows (about 1/2 a bag). Continue stirring the mixture while the marshmallows melt. When the marshmallows have all melted, remove the pan from heat. Add 2 teaspoons vanilla extract and stir to incorporate.

Add 5 cups of rice krispie cereal to the marshmallow mixture, gently folding them into the mixture. This next step is optional, you can add 2 cups of mini marshmallows and fold them into the rice krispies so there are some larger bits of marshmallow in the rice krispies treats.

Prepare a large sheet of parchment paper, buttering the bottom with a bit of butter. Turn the rice krispies treat mixture onto parchment paper. Use the paper to press the mixture into a rectangle shape. Press gently into shape and down, pressing too hard will make rice crispy treats that are really hard to bite into.

Cover the rice krispie treats with the parchment and set aside to cool for at least 30 minutes. I like to put this into the refrigerator to quickly chill them, or if I'm going to make rice krispies treats dipped in chocolate. If you'd like to see that recipe, let me know in the comments below!

Mine are in the fridge cooling! They look amazing 💗😊 thank you! I did wonder something though. I’m the description box, where the written recipe is, was different measurements than what you had said in the video so I had to kind of guess. I also used the big marshmallows because it’s all I had. So I’m hoping these turn out ok!

I have watched this video 5 times and made these 3 times now. My son and I love them. As an added touch, we put sprinkles ontop :)
