When the smartphone revolution kicked off, new features began to flourish. Soon, expectations went up, and people started having some pretty wild ideas on what the future held in store.

In this video I showcase some of the more interesting concept renders that I’ve seen over the years, as well as how they compared to the phones we actually got in reality.

When the new Mmotorola Razr was announced a few years ago, I had overly-high expectations. In its heyday, it was the favorite phone of a generation, including my mother who still uses a dumb phone because smartphones have everything that she _doesn't_ need. Unfortunately, the new model of the flip phone was made of cheep plastic, sold only in the UK, I believe, and obviously never took off.

The perfect smartphone was the Windows Phone. Perfect implementation. If only people didn’t buy into the whole things about apps. Everything was integrated. Then again, it’s also the perfect surveillance phone. There’s some wisdom in the madness of crowd in some sense...

I just miss my Sony Ericsson W880i Silver. If they could remake that phone with a high-res 1080p screen in it, I'll buy it. I only need whatsapp, a browser, email, a calendar, my banking apps, NFC, bluetooth, etc. But no social media apps beyond whatsapp. It could run Android and you'd still have the option of installing social media apps of course.

Heck, I'll even pay a good price for such a phone. Nothing has surpassed the Sony Ericsson W880i in any way for me. Even though I've had flagship devices for 15 years now, I still miss that little phone. Sadly it doesn't work in my country anymore due to the carriers not supporting the old bands anymore.

The first concept i saw was the all-glass iPhone 5 which at the time sounded cool but in practice sounds stupid, like most concepts it's why now I don't look at fan-made ones because most people making concepts are basing them off of their ideas and not a mass market idea.

Peak smartphone design at least for Android was probably the htc m8 but i did think the oppo find x was interesting phones are all the same now a metal and glass sandwich probably with a notch or a cutout

I'm never buying another phone as long as they keep that stupid "floating camera" and "curved bezel screen" bullcrap. I miss my Note 3, wish I could upgrade its hardware.

The video title and thumbnail does not at all reflect what the video is about, and I would argue being terrible. I've hold off from watching this video because it looked so boring, but the concept is interesting now that I've taken a look.
If I didn't run out of other stuff to watch, I might not have watched this one.

In the concept world, Apple fans are the most delusional, because they mostly believe those leaks and sometimes they talk about them in a way that makes it seems that Apple confirmed the design. 😂

So many cool ideas always never see the light of day and stay just prototypes. Trend set in, LG quit because boring people want generic phones then cool ones. I mean smartphones prior to the iPhone existed let alone ads today are 'better camera and apps you already use on a new phone wow' what magical advertising. XD In the standard space sure but I mean LG left phones because they didn't have a generic phone so they didn't sell only experimental phones and regular boring people don't buy them. That audience wants generic phones because their boring generic people wanting the basics while other companies had a mix of regular and experimental.

It's why we have dual screen phones/phablets by Microsoft and Samsung still going, or Sony's more niche camera enthusiast ones or other types out there but they are so niche most people don't even notice them.

Obviously many other experimental phones are out there that I've never seen or heard of but will over time but I mean blame normal people for the lack of creativity in phones in the mainstream/why we don't hear about them as much and why experimental phones stay with enthusiasts because they are the only audience that cares. Why we even have Linux phones as a possible option.

Why BlackBerry is small for businesses for that particular security use case.
