Young people are financially crippled by cost of living! It’s absurd!

Either corporate greed grows, or families do... you can't have both.

Bro be acting like it's a choice. Daycares and schools are shit, the good ones are bloody expensive. Housing is too expensive, especially neighborhoods good for raising kids. If you can afford the good neighborhood and school, you're too damn busy working to spend time with your kids and they end up messed up anyway. Society is not setup for growth, it's not a choice it's a consequence.

It's so strange to me how, not to long ago, trad-cons were saying, "Stop having children you can't afford." But now they're going, "It's your duty regardless of circumstance."

Yeah, no thanks. You can keep the moral high ground if it makes you feel better.

Pretty damn simple. 66% Americans living paycheck to paycheck. How would you add another person to that same income without putting you both near poverty?

The cost of living needs to decline and society attitudes need to change

I have never heard ANYBODY childless give the reasons as 'identity'. It's all about politics and money. These two live a world of their own.. And it's a long way from a working class world

I dont know why we keep pretending that the economy and "leadership" isn't the problem by this point. For the past 10 years, all my friends and people I've met have said those are the things that make them hesitant. They don't want to live in a household where it takes 2 parents to keep afloat while hiring a nanny to raise their kid.

Every time I ask anyone older, they have their own detached hypothesis that ties to either blaming Republicans or democrats.

The problem isn’t population collapse, but the political unwillingness to address it. We can’t have infinite economical growth. At some point it’s going to collapse. Besides we’re simply not able to employ replacement levels of population in a healthy future because of AI and automation.

I personally don’t care if the system collapses due to low birth rates - I don’t like the current system, it doesn’t work well any way ✌️

My god, post-Benzo Peterson really has only two emotions : angry, and furious.

"Let's tie this back to identity", he said, as he began to talk about something totally different to the question at hand, but wanted to rant about today. Again.

Only in recent years is having kids a massive financial burden. Back then, having more kids gave you more help in your tribe, or even not too long ago, more help on the farm. It's almost exclusively cost of living for me. I don't want to have a kid or multiple kids until I'm financially able to support them

There's no way to meet people to date. Even mass cold approach wasn't enough to meet a woman 10 years ago, and forget online dating. Also the cost of living is too high for young people.

The more developed a country becomes, the lower the birthrate.

Well thankfully we have choices whether to have children or not. Never wanted children since I was 9-10 years old, but if other people do, great.

Gosh, I...really don't give a rote shite about what happens in 2080 or 2100.

A system based on infinite growth is fundamentally broken. It's impossible.
