I feel like this is slightly innacurate as you used the area of the original triangle in your proof. If only the a squared and b squared were filled in, it would have better represented the space of c squared being filled by them.

The idea is C^2 is a cup. A^2 anh B^2 are water. Then how to fullfill water into the cup.
