For example, you will need to turn your wheels in a direction that prevents your vehicle from moving into the path of traffic if the brakes fail. I live in Maine and during the Winter we get lots of snow and ice. I had a manual truck once and I parked it in my driveway which was a slight incline, I had it in neutral and the parking brake was on. But the wheels were facing straight. Anyways the snow melted during the warm days since spring was rolling around the corner, and it would cool off real good at night freezing all the melted snow causing lots of ice. I came home one day and my truck was in a snow bank right in front of the road of my house which has lots of traffic. Basically the ice caused my truck to slide almost into the road, good thing for that big mound of snow in the way.

Do not rely on the parking brake. I have seen them fail many times, on different types of vehicles, including new cars. ALWAYS chock the tires! 😊

@Zutobi_US : For uphill without curb, shall we put wheels away from road (which is towards imaginary no curb ), and this is opposite (away from curb- touching curb gently) when curb is present in uphill ? Hope my thinking is correct

I tried to park my car downhill on emergency brake. Boy I was surprised as soon as people got on the brake failed. Good that I was sitting on drivers seat to stop it..

I Have A Question What if You Have Parked Downhill And When You Come Back To Leave And You Put The Car Back in Gear To Back Out And Your Gearshift Makes A Loud Noise Shifting into Reverse?..How Do you Avoid Damaging The Gearbox And Transmission?..
