This 30 second video shows you what you see when flying over a VOR through the "cone of confusion" which is when the VOR receiver in the aircraft cannot determine position in relation to the station. The green to/from flag and course deviation indicator ("needle") disappear momentarily as the aircraft flies over the VOR. Also, notice the light blue bearing pointers suddenly flip as the airplane flies almost directly over the VOR. This was recorded on a G1000 PFD in a Cessna 172S Skyhawk while on the VOR DME 13 approach at East Texas Regional Airport (KGGG).
Always remember that Laura, when you get right down to it, is just a pilot and a dispatcher. She is explaining facts from the source materials but may be incorrect or out of date. You should always follow your primary guidance (aircraft manuals, government regulations, etc.) before listening to anything from this YouTube channel. These videos are intended for educational purposes only.
