Lincoln being a wrestling champion is way cooler than loving oysters.

Calvin Coolidge also apparently would hit the buzzer to call the secrete services into the Oval Office and hide under the desk to confuse them 😂

Andrew Jackson’s parrot was kicked out of his funeral for cursing during the service. Lyndon Johnson owned a car/boat hybrid and would pretend like his brakes failed as he sped towards a lake to scare people.

"Abraham Lincoln's my name."
"With this pen, I wrote the same."
"I wrote with haste and speed."
"And left it here for fools to read."

- an actual poem by Abraham Lincoln.

One of my personal favorites was about Truman. The guy would cuss like you wouldn’t believe. There is one story where his wife had a friend over, Truman walks by and stepped on something causing him to say “Goddammit!” Her friend was appalled at this, but his wife just said “do you know how long it took him to say Goddammit?”

My favorite thing about Carter as a president was that because he was a naval nuclear engineer, when the Three Mile Island meltdown happened he was able to go there and know what the NRC and TMI folks were talking about, I also feel that what Carter accomplished after leaving office was much more important that what he accomplished in office.

Coolidge's story is actually really sad, and, like with Pierce, it explains a lot about the man.

He lost his mother and sister young; his father was something of a tyrant whom he disliked early in life.

When he was vice president, he received word that President Harding had passed, and his father administered his oath of office.

He lost his 16 year old son, Calvin jr, to sepsis during his first summer as president, just after winning the nomination for 1924.

He won, and he fulfilled his duty, but he had no desire to be President after he lost his son. He wrote "the power and glory of the presidency went with him [his son]."

Basically, he, like Pierce, spent his elected term in a deep depression and didn't do a lot; he left the nation to his secretaries and withdrew from society.

Before he was an actor, Ronald "Dutch" Reagan was a sports broadcaster for radio stations in Iowa. My great-grandfather was his last manager in radio. My great grand-father displayed the prognostication prowess of the family when he told him, "Dutch, if you go out to Hollywood you'll never make anything of yourself."

5:46 In the assassination attempt on Andrew Jackson, the assassin actually fired TWO pistols at point blank range, and BOTH misfired, due to wet powder. And then, yes, the President commenced to kicking some assassin butt.

Since Jimmy Carter was a submariner the US Navy named a submarine in his honor instead of a carrier. The USS Jimmy Carter, SSN-23, is a Seawolf-class attack submarine modified for covert operations.

Bro Jackson and Roosevelt are the type of dudes that I wouldn’t believe actually existed if history didn’t insist so. The tales and legends of them are almost unbelievable.
