I just don't understand why being honest at a dealership is such a crime.

Bottom line: greed

From the minute you walk into the showroom, you get that greasy feeling of being worked. It’s really cringe how sales people and the finance people massage you and do their game. Unfortunately, that’s how the world works. The entire structure from government down is about taking as much money out of your pockets as possible. Eventually the system breaks because the people are is what’s happening to our country now.

You guys are awesome. The entire car industry follows a very bad business model. You are enemies the moment you walk into the dealership. It all has to change.

I hate car dealers!!! High pressure, superficial attempts to use psychology, whine, threaten, lie, manipulate, etc! Last four vehicles bought from private parties. Great deals and no regrets! No wonder the on-line car companies like Carvana are coming on strong.

The whole “Would you recommend this dealer to someone else” rating can be very misleading. The truth is, most people who get shafted at car dealerships think they got a good deal and end up recommending it to others. A coworker of mine just got robbed on a 2018 jeep Cherokee but he thinks he got a good deal 🤦🏻‍♂️ most people either don’t know how or are too lazy to do enough research to get a good deal.

My family, father & brothers, have been selling cars at dealerships their whole lives. Honestly if i didn't deal with them, I'd Never go to a dealership to purchase a vehicle.

When I purchased one of my cars (it was a necessity) I had been at the dentist for a root canal just prior. After the buying process was finished I announced to the sales person that I enjoyed the root canal more than buying this vehicle. It was true. Twenty five years later it’s the same crap!

Some of the dealerships in my area are switching to base salary and bonus per vehicle sold rather than percentage of profit pay plan. Mainly Mitsubishi dealers so far, but I'm seriously hoping more brands adopt this to eliminate this inherent conflict of interest

Great Job..Once again you guys are keeping the public aware of dealer scams. I'd like to see your analysis of the recent FTC case against Napleton that resulted in a 10 million dollar settlement for affected consumers in the state of Illinois. Napleton's dealers were guilty of unauthorized add-ons. READ the complaints...atrocious!!! Of course, Napleton claimed "no wrong doing."

good job fellas, having been a salesman and sales manager in high end electronicse like computers and software, i recognize the issue with sales plans and how they incent behavior. Maybe the car dealers go to a different way of compensation, commission is great but make it base plus commission or somethjing like that. To show how bad some plans can be, as a manager i was paid on how early in the year I could get my numbers while the sales rep was paid on his total sales for the year. At year end, i would take sales and put them in the drawer for next year, insuring my pay while taking it away from the salesrep who gets paid to bring it in immediately. it had the rep and management at odds with each other. never mind the customer.

Words from actual customers told to you directly on how they were treated is the best way to determine if a good dealership or not. Nothing posted on the internet can be trusted.
I hate making a deal with the devil is why I hate new/used car salesmen.

I hate hate hate to buy a car because I have been treated so disrespectfully; always telling me to bring in my husband before they would talk to me. Little did they know we always bought what I liked.

I had a salesman tell me he’d mark up my factory order f250 by around $7000. Immediately left.

Hello Gentlemen! I truly appreciate the database you are putting together as a future new car buyer. I saw the questions you are posing on this segment about people's car buying experience and wondered if you are including questions about "Doc" and "Prep" fees? From your previous videos I know you said those are negotiable items for out the door price. I have been to numerous Toyota dealership websites in and around Birmingham, AL and found the fees to be what I consider extremely high, dare I say outrageous. Of the 10 I looked at, the Doc fees ranged from $489 to $899! (no cap here in AL) There was also one dealership that listed a Prep fee of $1495!! (this info is in fine print at the bottom of the web page) The PDI (or Toyota PDS) is included in the MSRP price and in the Southeast this PDS is performed outside the dealership by the distributor.
I have not seen any listed dealer markups on their websites so my thought is they may not negotiate fees and options. I'm trying to keep my 2006 RAV4 running for another year to see if things get better. Love your channel--keep up the good work!!

I bought a truck from the dealership 4 months ago. I traded in my truck and had about $35K remaining. The finance guy was like “this will cost you $600, but I’ll knock off 1/2 so you’re only paying $300” and we’ll just add the tonneau cover and window tint to your loan. Then I told him I wanted to buy the tint and tonneau cover separately because I wanted to pay cash for the remaining balance. He tried keeping me in the finance lane by saying that he’ll put in the stipulation that after 6 months of payments that I will then have the option to buy it out. Needless to say, I declined and said I wanted to pay out the remaining balance at that time. Well, those deductions the guy gave me went out the window and was charged the full fees. I went in last week to get my other older truck appraised so I could trade it in for something new. As I was sitting in the salesperson’s office the person left to appraise my vehicle with her manager. Then I heard the finance guy yakking with coworkers behind me in the showroom and I could see the reflection off the salespersons office. I couldn’t help but feel he was making jokes and cracking off at me because I could see he was looking directly at me. Then they walked by the office door looking at me (I could see their reflections) and continued cracking jokes as they walked away. It was a bad enough feeling that if I decide to go back and finalize my deal I am going to request a different financial advisor.

Toyota of Seattle. No markups, no accessories, no salespeople on commission. However there is nothing wrong with buying "insurance products" as they make sense for a great handful of buyers (it must be noted we only sell Toyota products, not 3rd party coverage) -FI manager

There is an important point that was missed - New York makes driving awful. One issue is the taxes as mentioned by the salesman. But even worse is wasting our lives in dangerous unnecessary toll jams, the yearly safety inspection scam, traffic ticketing scams, big brother tracking transmitters, ...
